i got the netgear voip from coventry staples, last one they had.....
Can you guys tell me if the speed is 54g? No where I can see it that it is...
Also there is meant to be a firmware online where u can use other providers. as at the moment it is locked to sipgate... Anyone know about this? Am sure there are other voip proividers out there that provide free calls to landlines, so this would be better than using sipgate.... Thanks0 -
If you find a "free to landlines" post it in this thread!0

Managed to get one of these netgear VOIP adapters in Leeds Crown Point Staples. There were more. These are £57.06 on Amazon and they only have 2 left http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-TA612V-Broadband-Voice-Adapter/dp/B0009RAY1E/ref=sr_11_1/202-6995446-1355811?ie=UTF8 so £19.91 is a great deal. Cant thank you enough DC, been lookin out for something like this.dc wrote:you do not have the option of manually entering SIP service provider details. The configuration process is locked down tight so the TA612V can only take these details from the sipgate web site. Furthermore, setting the unit back to factory defaults only resets the basic network configuration and administrative access rights and does not clear the VoIP settings.
Second to last reply here although this could be wrong. http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t235103-netgear-ta612v-sipgate.htmlI understand that (although its not clear and I havnt tested) that you can download a unlocked firmware after registering the device at
https://www.sipgate.co.uk/netgear - anyone actually tested this?
Just checked https://www.sipgate.co.uk/netgear and there is an open firmware link! Looks like they can be unlocked for use with other providers if neededRemember too I think it has 2 lines so one can be sipgate another can be another provider
I'll go get my feet wet with it and open the box
