I am on the Humax website now as they seem to get the great reviews, however I do not have a clue when it comes to technology.
I would like to buy a machine that records and watch different channels, pause live TV, record series etc.
We have a normal aerial & also a sat dish from when we were with sky so have the option of either. I would be grateful if a product could be recommended which can be one of the manager specials. Our TV has freeview on it, I think its the LG3000.
All I do know is that we need a twin tuner?
ThanksComping from May 2012
Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help

You need to decide which platform you want to use your PVR on, Freeview and Freesat-the 2 boxes from Humax do essentially the same job.
The channel line up is similar, but not identical, so I suggest you base your decision on that.
The advantage of Freesat is that it gives you some HD channels if you go for the Foxsat.
For Freeview HD you will require the more expensive Freeview HD box.
Yes, they all have a twin tuner. You can use your existing Sky dish, but you will need a twin feed from the LNB if not already installed. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I am going to buy a Free Sat + Box Recorder, and a dish and do away with our Ariels on roof.We have an engineer to do this job (our usual man ) Can one of your experts help me with where to go for a good price on the Free Sat + Box Recorder please. I want to buy a Humax
Thank you.:)0 -
There is absolutely no need to remove the old aerials (ariel is a washing powder).
Humax sell direct through their own site. Look under 'Manager's Specials' for the refurbs etc.

Otherwise Richer Sounds is your best bet on price. No free lunch, and no free laptop

gassy12 - let's start with the Humax Foxsat HDR recorder for £225 from John Lewis and see if we can go down from there...0

Now, would it be possible to purchase a V+ Virgin box from Ebay and plug it straight into a Virgin line that I still have installed from the previous owners. All I want is the free HD channels for the world cup. Does anyone know if this would work?0

Virgin boxes are only rented from Virgin and must be returned to Virgin when a contract ends.
Don't buy a Virgin box from anywhere - you are likely to end up in bother with it.0
