If people wanted the tickets badly enough then they would book the day off work, get parents, friends to take the kids to school and go to the venue and que up like we did in the good old days. When we wanted tickets in the 80's and 90's we would get the 1st bus over to Manchester at 6am then que up outside for 3 hours until the box office opened, other people would already be there after camping overnight. These were to see bands like Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne etc etc. The venue only held 3000 so you know it was the only way. I have no sympathy for people who sat behind a computer with a phone in there hand and are now complaining. If YOU'RE there biggest fan you would have got tickets by planning ahead.

I take it you don't live in the North of Scotland? There's nowhere here to buy tickets in person (I have done when it's been possible) and I don't even think Glasgow were selling them at the venue. Even if they had been I'd have had to go down the night before as the first bus wouldn't have got me there in time. Think I'll stick to chancing it on the computer.

I understand its frustrating but there "is" a skill involved in getting tickets. While everyone else is going on ticketmaster.co.uk I would use ticketmaster.de and go via the German ticketmaster site to buy them which didn't crash and had 1/4 of the users. As I know some web coding I've strip down the ticketmaster website look so it doesn't load pictures, frames or other java programs running in the background to maximise the refresh.

I agree with all these comments. It is a skill and research game. The end of the day everyone knew the gigs were coming on due to the Advertising on national TV etc. Everybody had the same opportunity to get hold of the tickets due to no presales.

Those people complaining of the prices don't have to buy them! why don't they just wait to see if they release anymore tickets or new dates?

gambleruk - taking time off work?? yeah right easier said than done with insight, shame I didn't realise I'd be on holiday when I booked it last year!! There was no way I could get internet access, let alone the hours it took to actually get through.

I love the way people are claiming on these 2nd hand sites that they are genuine fans selling spares, why don't they start the prices at face value then??

I'll try nearer the time and see if some do sell nearer the true price, I hope so my daughter is a massive Robbie fan.

Well my wife didn't want the tickets I had bought so they've now gone to friends for cost price. They had been trying all day to get tickets without any luck so they've got 2 tickets each and I get my money back.

There are some honest people out there and I agree, if people truly have genuine spare tickets, why not sell them on eBay starting at the face value plus booking fee, postage and eBay fees and have it as a 1 day auction only. There do seem to be a lot of people on there who have "genuine spare" tickets starting at nearly twice the face value of the ticket.

I sold my spare tickets on ebay for cost, inc booking fee, plus the ebay/paypal fees on a 1 day auction and they've gone - I had a spare pair for Manchester and a spare pair for Birmingham - the ladies who bought them are over the moon and have not been ripped off.

If people are daft enough to pay extortionate inflated prices on ebay for tickets there is always going to be a market for touts.
  • hi , there is a way to stop the touts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i tried to buy mylie cyrus tickets last year . there was a warning on the site and on the tickets that the ticket buyer must be present at the concert . i was not lucky enough to get my daughter tickets , but more importantly , i did not see any on ebay . why cant all gig tickets be sold like this , there would have been more tickets to go around for real fans when the touts go away
i did not get tickets on friday for my wife and daughter

That's fine if you want standard tickets. Some of the box-offices weren't allocated/selling all the range of tickets - if you wanted a specific type, such as a wheelchair spaces or VIP packages, you have no choice but to go through the websites.

Only works if all of the tickets have the ticket buyer's name on it and then only if the concert venue checks all of the tickets against the buyers ID. Most concert venue's will not check this as they just want to get people into the venue as quick as possible.

I agree with fitchase above too. It doesn't always get checked. You only need the credit card with the tickets and its not hard to give a card to a buyer for entry and then that buyer returns the card as a passout a few minutes later.

Also, most of the security people are conscious when its busy to check ID,s tickets, etc.
