If ebay had a block ban on the sale of concert tickets then this would curtail the practice. I agree that if you buy tickets for an event and then can't go then you should be able to re-sell them and perhaps the venues should be a bit more flexible on refunding tickets if this turns out to be the case. On watchdog the other week they had a report which told of difficulties some fans had in getting tickets for top acts and that within a very short time of them going on sale on ticketma%ter, they were appearing on a re-sale ticket site at hugely inflated prices (the name of which I can't remember) but which, wait for it, was owned by ticketma%ter. so t1cketma%ter made money when they sold the tickets first time round and also made money on the re-sale ???

take that's promoter has apologised for all the fuss stating that one million tickets have been sold....... apologies etc etc etc now either they have their head in the clouds or they are just pleading ignorant because - lets think about this - robbie returns to take that and will tour with them so why on earth would they not predict that demand would be very very high? why was there not a pre-sale for genuine fans and why was the ticket limit no more than 4 rather than 8 ?

For all the complaining about ticket touts - I bet every single one of you would sell something for a profit if you could!

The secondary ticketing business is perfectly legal.

There used to be only a certain bunch of sleazy people that did, but now its too easy for everyone to use eBay. It's so greedy and unfair but I guess that just sums those people up. I'm one of the many fans that never got any tickets and now they're all sold out for Manchester :(

I know that sometimes people have a genuine reason for needing to sell on their tickets but maybe if Ebay banned sale of tickets for concerts like this up to a month before the event itmight stop all the touts buying them up the minute they go on sale as they wouldnt have such an easy way to offload them for some time

Been trying to get my disabled daughter tickets since 9am - no joy!

Got through to Ticket Factory this morning (one of the official companies listed in the official tour advert), who have their own disabled access contact phone number.

They told me for the Take That tour they aren't dealing with this, and I should dial 0115 912 9000 (SeeTickets)

Finally got through to them about 9.30 this eve after trying all day, and they said NO they don't do disabled access tickets, I should dial 0870 400 0750.

That number just came up with a message saying 'line not in service'

    AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

I've also tried Ticketmaster 0844 847 1655, which claims to be an official Take That disabled access number, according to the recorded message you get when you call it, but after the message ends, the line goes dead! Its done that all day since 9am !

Can anyone point us in the right direction please?

    thanks
    IM

Thank you for this. My (disabled) wife spent yesterday trying to get tickets. No luck. She's tried all of the numbers that you give and hasn't even got through to any agents yet!

I quite like take that, not really interested in going to the concert though. However looked on ebay just to be nosy, OMG:eek: I feel really sorry for genuine fans who couldn't get tickets by official means and will end up buying tickets from ebay! One seller has 4 x 2 tickets on sale at £700 a pair. They obviously bought the maximum 8 tickets just to stick them on ebay.

There really needs to be a ban on reselling tickets. I just bought Diamond Circle tickets to see Bon Jovi next year, i have to pick the tickets up at the venue and bring photo ID with me. Some kind of system like that should be in place for other big gigs. The tickets are totally non-transferrable.

Did glastonbury/T in the park not do this one year? When they sent the tickets out the had your name on them, and if you didnt have ID to match you didnt get in.

  • I was lucky enough to get 2 tickets and I know I could have got more but I wouldn't get them and sell them on principle. It's not fair on people who are fans and have tried hard to get tickets to see them on ebay at inflated prices.

I got my tickets Friday afternoon after they announced some more dates but I was irritated when I found out that later on Friday evening they announced they had even more dates for weekend shows. We ve got a Wed night but would have gone for weekend tickets if we could. Reading the posts on here i clearly got my strategy wrong.
  • I want to thank the people on this forum who compared notes about ways to get tickets yesterday. I used the ticketmaster.ie recommendation and managed to get four standing tickets for Wembley, passed on the info to a friend and she also managed to get tickets that way. When the new Birmingham dates were released I tried again for seats and managed to get two more but seats this time which is better cos I get claustrophobic. I've passed on four tickets to a neighbour who was very desperate to go and couldn't get any, at cost. It's disgusting to profiteer from these tickets and I agree that something needs to be done.

Re the websites not being able to cope, i.e. TicketMaster, I don't blame them because they should not have to incur extra server costs just because there is a rush, it is a one off and there would be extra contracts to sign, more fees to pay, they probably would have to pay for more capacity over a month and not just for one day. Why should they do this? They will get the same amount of money whether the tickets sell in hours or days. It is really down to Take That to sort this out, it is their fans, and not the fault of the ticket agency websites.

I think the worst thing is that you have to be internet savvy really to be able to get the tickets, unless you are able to queue at the venue. Like if my husband had tried for tickets through TicketMaster he never would have been fast enough. There should be more ways to get these tickets. It's discriminating really against people who are less able on the computer.

Not at all. I've got 10 spare tickets and every single one of them will go for face value to real fans. Either to friends or friends of friends. Can't put them on Ebay for face value as they'll end up with a tout.

(Background info - needed 6 for me and friends but saw I could get 8 so bought them in case other friends couldn't get. Then a better date became available so I bought for then too.)

Totally agree, not everyone is out for a quick buck.

Kitternscavern is exactly right when it comes to saying you have to be internet savvy to buy tickets.

Lets put it another way. How many people went to the Ireland (ticketmaster.ie) or the German (Ticketmaster.de) websites which were 1/2 busy and bought their tickets for take that UK via a back door way.

Now that's tech Savvy or outside thinking. Ticket were available there throughout the whole day and although those sites and servers were slow I can image someone could have easily hoovered a truck load this way!
