Come to think of it, I didn't actually get an apology from the garage! I got one from the tyre company but not the garage.

I'm only bringing it to the attention of the tyre company because the guy at the garage was willing to let me drive off for a second time with the wonky tyre and they need to be aware that one of their fitting partners are seriously incompetent.

All I'm looking for is the fitting fee for all of the tyres back as I'm loathed to pay the garage after their treatment of me.

Ive just had new windows fitted to my 1000 bedroom mansion, one of them is cracked, can I be refunded the cost of the other 999 even though they are perfectly fitted?

I agree with you, the problem now is you have let them correct the mistake.
Some photos would have helped, and then threatening to report to trading standards.
The fine would have cost then more, so they would probably have agreed.
Now you have no evidence of the problem it's hard to pursue.

Well did the window fitters say that the cracked window was ok, fit for purpose and not dangerous? If so, I'd say you have a case!

I know, I wish I had thought of taking photos. However, as the tyre company phoned the garage to confirm my complaint, all is ok?

You can suggest they make a payment for your time, petrol etc, and suggest they refund the fitting charges, but if they no longer admit to the problem, it'll be hard to get anywhere.

So, as asked before when you found this dangerous tyre, did you fit your spare wheel?

Yes, a neighbour helped me as I couldn't really lift the damn tyre in to my car.

I'd stress that as well, for the time and inconvenience.

I'm not looking for that sort of thing. I just want the fitting charges refunded.

    Why though?
The garage made a mistake and rectified it - they also refunded you the cost of that error - you got that tyre fitted correctly for free (albeit at a second attempt).
Why should all the others be free?
The "what ifs" don't come into it at all because nothing happened. Any possibility of a blow out or crash is irrelevant because nothing happened.
Should I sue the next driver I see not indicating because there could have been an accident?
In your job, if you make a mistake do you still get paid next time you get it right? Or do you forfeit your pay for the next half dozen times you get it right?

I still don't see how you feel you're entitled to anything over and above the cost of the refund you've already had.
