Jackie, I just found that if you go via Quidco (12% cashback) you can get Novotel for £40 per night, which is a better hotel and after cashback there is not much difference. I still have to go and look at the Virgin fares for travel on 22nd Jan.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Thanks Caterina I never looked at that one, thought I had checked all the cheaper ones, too! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

With regards to the date I am flexible but I am conscious that we don't want to be chopping and changing all the time otherwise people are going to get confused or put off altogether.
So shall we stick to 22nd or do you want to check the prices of the trains for 7th Jan for people who've got to travel a fair distance?
OJS is normally full of solicitors and suits during the weekday so am hoping it will be less people talking shop on a weekend (although I confess I've only ever been in there on a lunchtime or Friday night).
I am a bit  at you all getting excited about coming to Brum. Honestly it's nothing special reallySt Pauls Square is one of my favourite places although it's too far for a meet, it's the only remaining Georgian square in Brum. Sorry heading off on one of my boring history facts :rotfl:

Bitsy - I've only been to Brum a couple of times - Sea-life, the canal and once came shopping on the bus and had a sandwich by a church near the shops. I also went to the NIA but thats about it.
Taplord is saying he will probably come too as he doesn't like the thought of me travelling alone, we're not used to the bright lights of the city:D us country bumpkins!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -

I will see if I can persuade mr NPM to come with me, if so we will come depending on DS being at his dad that weekend.....will have to get back to you on it.
It would be lovely if LW could get there, it sounds ideal Molly if it has good disabled access.0 -

I'd love to join everyone for a meet up!
I do lurk on the OS board often but don't post that much.
Also catch up with Mooloo's thread ( Molly) most days.

but any hints on train fayres? The 7th of Jan is a lot lot cheaper than the 22nd, is there a particular time period you should aim for to get cheap prices? Or another operator (I just checked Virgin as not really sure)?
JackieG - It's not yet 12 weeks in advance if you are looking to come back on the Sunday. It's 12 week's tomorrow so try searching then as that's wehn cheap advance fares are normally published

Thanks Flutterby, I am a novice at train fares, and thought it might be something like that. To be honest I had a look at the transport board but it was all Apex-this and saver-that, and I felt like it would have read better in Greek! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
