Mine is in my account dated Monday 15th Nov.

I got the £250 credited yet in the past my OH and I have had £125 each.

Are they just paying it into one account now when both are receiving OAPs?

Do you always receive a letter about it? This should be my first year (pension started in March).

    What a good idea.

I already give to Help for Heroes and a few other charities of my choice - not the big, well-publicised, obvious ones.

Part of mine has already gone to buy a winter jacket for my eldest GD. As she lives a very active life and is out in all weathers, she got soaked one day this week when the seams on her jacket had split. This is all about keeping warm and dry, so it has gone in the right direction. I also spent some on replacement double-glazed window panes earlier this week.

but its not suitable to buy grandchildren christmas presents?
I mentioned a new winter coat because that was what aloise above plans to buy. That does qualify, but I have heard of people spending it on grandchildren's Christmas presents, which does not. Double-glazing qualifies because it is insulation.

The Winter Fuel Allowance is intended for what the name suggests, i.e. to be paid towards your winter fuel bills. There's no way of the government knowing whether you actually have spent it for that purpose though, so you could just blow it all on the 3.30 from Doncaster if you liked. When your large winter bills come though, you only have yourself to blame if you are struggling to pay them.

You'd probably need £250 to travel on the 3.30 from Doncaster!

29-10-2010 1:20 PM anmarj if you both are in recepit of State Pension only then it will be split, if you have Pension Credit, then it is paid in full to the Pension Credit customer only.
