When I was pregnant with my first I would wake up, go to work, fall asleep on the bus home, eat dinner, go straight to bed and then not wake up until the next morning. I barely saw daylight.

My second, I wasn't working anymore but still had to be in bed by 10pm and nap during the day.

  • Your original post seems quite disbelieving that pregnancy can affect women this much.[\QUOTE]

Yep, you're right- I didn't believe it could. Like I say, I have never been pregnant. Every pregnant woman that I have ever had any dealings with never seemed to be this sickly (My Mum said she didn't know anyone who'd been quite that weak through pregnany either). I did think she was putting it on.
Does she know what you think? - might be part of the reason she's too tired to visit you!

Lol, no she doesnt know- and in any case, she's my DHs brothers wife...she was meant to be coming with her husband to visit his brother- not to see me! Anyhoo, I suspected she was playing games (and making excuses) because she has a lonnnnngggggg history of being an attention seeker and being a cow towards me in sly ways- I just thought this was another one of her ploys! Obvioulsy not.

Well turn it around and go visit them.:D

She may be genuinely feeling tired, it is very draining, although I admit with it being a first it does sometimes feel like you're the only woman it ever happened to!!

Her dh would probably welcome a help with some shopping or something.

Leaves you two shining whiter than a Daz wash doing it this way instead of just complaining about her being a sly cow!!;)

Hi, could definetley be genuine, last year I was working nights, already have 2 children, felt really tired and sicky, I put this down to trying to stop snacking on night shift. If we went out in the car you could guarantee I would start to doze, I didn't feel right after a week of this and had a lightning moment that the last time I felt really tired was when first preg with 2nd. Reluctantly I did a pre test to find out preg and now have a beautiful daughter. Agree about sickness too, with 1st I had a few hours in an afternoon where I could eat without throwing it straight back up, this alone can make you tired as you don't have much energy.

  • Sounds reasonable to me. I have friend in exactly the same situation.

TBH, why can't you just take her word for it? What's stopping you going to visit her instead?

I'm not pregnant but I just wondered whether at 12-13 weeks gone, it's 'normal' to ALWAYS be tired.

I have a family member who's pregnant and since she found out she's been CONSTANTLY tired, always 'having to go for a lie down' every 10 minutes, too weak to lift a finger (her husband is doing EVERYTHING for her)- cant stop at work for a full day and 'is too tired to visit our house' 45 minutes away.

Is this normal for someone who is 12-13 weeks pregnant or is she playing on it?

It was like that for me - I couldn't keep my eyes open for any length of time during the 1st 4 months. I kept having to have naps in my lunch hour & naps when I got home from work. I also had time off work so I could sleep.

I was more tired during early pregnancy than I was when I had glandular fever (and I slept for 36 hours at a time with that!)
