How did you feel during pregnancy

I'm not pregnant but I just wondered whether at 12-13 weeks gone, it's 'normal' to ALWAYS be tired.

I have a family member who's pregnant and since she found out she's been CONSTANTLY tired, always 'having to go for a lie down' every 10 minutes, too weak to lift a finger (her husband is doing EVERYTHING for her)- cant stop at work for a full day and 'is too tired to visit our house' 45 minutes away.

Is this normal for someone who is 12-13 weeks pregnant or is she playing on it?

  • Yes, it could be genuine. Some women sail through while others have a terrible time. I sympathise with her as I felt like that first time round until about 16 weeks.

Yup....normal. I'm nearly 34 weeks. At times I feel like I can run a marathon. However, at other times I really can't lift a finger. At those times I have to force myself to do things.

At 12 weeks she could be suffering from morning sickness. Now, that doesn't mean that in the morning you throw up once and that's it. Its a permanent feeling of ickyness that I had. I was very tired, feeling nauseous all the time and would regularly throw up at various points of the day.

I know for a fact I had things easy. Very easy. Most women get a lot worse than what I experienced.

There is so much going on in your body during pregnancy that all its energy goes towards the baby. As far as its concerned the mum's body can go get knotted.

noone i know has ever been that tired during pregnancy, she may be putting it on a bit more than she is, but when you think about it, she wont be able to when she's had the baby.

i agree it could be genuine

the tiredness can be totally overwhelming in the first few months and then again in the last few !

i had to nap after work every day and i only worked 9.30 am til 3pm lol

on top of that "morning" sickness which lasted til 6 months ,made it easier to just lay down if at home as if it was really bad then just movement would make me sick ! :(

It will vary, but in the early days I would fall asleep at 6pm, and that could be it til next morning!

The tiredness eased during the middle months, then I was very tired in the last months again.

I dont know how people manage to work full time whilst pregnant!

    Definately could be genuine.

I could have fallen asleep standing up until about 20 weeks coupled with the constant sickness I was regularly in bed by 5.30-6pm and had to stop driving when I nearly fell asleep on the motorway. Doctor ended up signing me off work as I was a danger to myself and others. Often wonder what will happen if we ever manage to have no 2.

With both my pregnancies I was tired in the first 3 months, full of energy in the next 3 months then tired again in the last 3 months. Sometimes I felt as though I was sleeping my life away!

With DS1 exactly same sympthoms(sp), felt great but very tired, it settled down by about 6 months or so . With DS2 had no choice but to get on with it . Did feel tired but other priorities .

my friend used to call it sticky-pillow head, she's a stoic sort but she too was compelled to sleep the first trimester away!
