So I did my final shop for this month and I came in at £126.56! A total of £6.56 over!!!
All of that was spent while we were sick... why is it you don't care about your budget when sick!
My next 4 week cycle starts on the 26th Nov, but I've already spent £2.62 of that budget on stork and caster sugar!
I was planning on buy that next week, but decided to do a months worth of baking yesterday and it's my only opportunity before Christmas to have done that!
My extra bulk buy pot is filling up... so toothpaste is on a good offer, I am going to buy 6 months worth next weekend with that pot!
6 Months worth normally costs £13.20, I am going to pay £9.00, I will then take 55p out of each weeks shopping (for 6 months) until I have recuperated £13.20 and placed in back in the pot!!!
I am hoping the more times I do this (with different products) the bigger the pot will become!
If I can get £50 a year extra into the pot that'll cover Christmas food shoppingWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Went to lidl for some basics after work yesterday: kilo onions, oats, lentils, tinned toms, soy milk =£2.46 i was very tempted by 24 bags of crisps for 92p but i don't need to snack... plus £1 for a dozen good bell peppers at the market.
yesterday i had baked spuds topped with roast red pepper(1), the rest of the week(and beyond!) will include red pepper soup(2), stir fry peppers(1), kidney bean and pepper chilli(1), pepper & sausage stew(0.5), rice and peppers(0.5), steak & peppers (1), spicy quinoa stuffed peppers(1) which still leaves me with four peppers!
There's not much left in the budget!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Could I please be added to your list as I have a record for the month so far
£600
Thankyou x:A0 -
i am up to 279 squid in my fact finding trip about our family's shopping budget--its got me thinking about resources we need 'if' we ever retire!! i never realised how much food costs because i have never done a budgeting exercise like this.-My guestimate of 175gbp is looking slightly off beam!
i asked a very odd question about how much more it costs to shop in a place like wait rose compared to li-dles in the uk because i was trying to compare quality against budget in the uk--we eat quite high quality food here and i always shopped in Mr L in the uk!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Added up my spends from the last few days and updated my total, I've spent almost £100:eek: but in my defence I've bought a few things to put aside for Xmas and we also now have enough Toilet roll, crisps, cheese, margarine etc to last us until the New Year!! Just can't resist a bargain.:o I think the panic set in when I realised that there is only 5 weeks until Xmas and I've not put anything aside, now have Pringles in thanks to Mr M, have tubs of chocs put aside thanks to Mr T and lager aside thanks to Mr S and nectar points.
Dinner tonight is Roast Beef and all the trimmings, it's a huge joint so as usual will be enough for a Curry tomorrow night but I think looking at it there will also be enough slices to pop into the Freezer for another meal.;)
I've also today made Boodles biscuits and fairy cakes for this weeks Lunchboxes.
Hugs to those that need them and thinking of those with health issues/family worries."WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi All!
£10.87 spent in Mr S...stuck to my list apart from getting some Reduced to clear Chicken breasts, which were cheaper than my normal Chicken thighs.
Also got some ham from the deli counter for lunches next week, coffee, plus reduced stir fry veg, chilli beans, rice and sour cream for all my dinners next week.
I thought I had better get the rice because I can never seem to bothered to get and carry the bulk bags from the Indian supermarket , yet I REFUSE to buy the Taste the Difference or Tilda rice they only have in the little Mr S near work! £1.50 for 500g of basmati rice...I think not!
Hope everyone has had/is having a good weekend...Updated signatureGrocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300
Grocery Challenge 13 -spent £1453.06
Grocery Challenge 12 -spent £1565.510 -
had one of those weeks and the budgets gone a bit astray
best guess i think I have approx £10 left to last till the end of the month
but out of eggs /butter /pasta/F&V/coffee so prob spend that tommorow though hopefully not too much more
not gonna stress too much & just aim on keeping spends as low as possible between now and then and tbh apart from the above and maybe some milk dont really need anything else
have managed another 2 nsd(7 so far this month :j) so well pleased on that front as normally I don't manage 1 a month :eek:this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -
£51 on groceries this week which is just below our budget of £60. We,re using the meat we bought the other week (and froze) for menus this week so no meat was bought this week.0

Hi everyone
Spends yesterday of £22.57, so slightly more than bread and milk :rotfl:
Got another jar Kenc0 Rich Roast coffee on offer at £3 for a 200g jar (I now have 4 jars & 2 refill bags, so that should keep us going)
Got 3 packs of Egg Noodles for £3 (didn't need any, but I do use them and the offer is about to end) & 2 packs of Bertoli Olive Spread bogof offer.
Also some yoghurt, 16 litres (yes, really) of milk, 2 loaves of bread, 12 eggs, kitchen roll, ice cream, and my bargain of the day, 3 tins of Coconut Milk @ 55p per tin from the Co-0p. My local Te$co only stock Am0y @ £1.99 a tin and my local A$da only sell it for £1.06 a tin, can't find any in £idl, and Waitr0se sell it for £1.29, so I'm well chuffed
Total spends so far of £234.86 remaining budget £40.14 ÷ 9 days, gives me £4.46 to spend per day up to and including 30th November.
I'm not going to do another online shop, so given that I have to walk everywhere to get any other food, I think £40.14 to last me is doable. Means I've got to manage for a fortnight before another online shop, which concerns me a bit, but I'm gonna give it a shot.
Well done to everyone taking part, whether or not you're coming in on budget :T This challenge really is a case of "it's not the winning, it's the taking part" because we would all be spending so much more if we weren't.
