  • Hi all, I'm another who thinks we might as well have snow if it's this blinking cold! On the other hand I also agree about the housebound - and we need OH to be able to work, last year we were stuck here for over a week. He doesn't get paid if he doesn't work, so we'd be heading for the last notch on the belts I think.

Anyroad, skilly I think you should get a prize:)
I shouldn't - but the total is currently £70 less than last month, so something's working. I could probably have lasted except for a few small bits but OH will have the car all day at least today and tomorrow so it had to be in November.
We went to the newly-opened L!dl yesterday, my goodness I couldn't believe how much stuff we got for £25.88:D

OH decided we should try some v cheap dog food, we shall see, it's Orlando complete dried, has anyone tried it? We've been buying MrT's own since we discovered it's the same as Bakers.

Also got some bits at MrT but they were for Christmas presents, also a couple of bottles of booze and tin of chocs, I think I will have a separate budget for presents and extra drink but count all food etc in with December. Then I'll be able to see how much is extra, if I put it in now it'll just be in with 'normal' November Iyswim.

MrT kindly had great big caulis for 50p so we had Jamie's cauli macaroni cheese last night, ooh it was yum:).

Oh and I'm also on a calendar month so you never know I might have to add even more on yet:o

Hugs to those still having a hard time, especially worrying about hospital visits etc in the bad weather.
  • Hello All,

    Declaring a shameful £299 from a budget of £250 for November:eek:

Can't even quite work it out, as we've cut down on take-aways and have had a few meals with our respective parents. Neither of us smoke, barely drink alocohol nor buy any (i don't at all, OH takes a hour to drink one beer!)

Spend of £62 at Mr A on I'm Not Even Quite Sure What Now!! Over £4 on a bottle of port I'm using to make port spiced red cabbage for Xmas dinner (wanna do a dry run first) and the rest on just the usual bits for breakfast and lunches - not even any freezer food in two weeks needed! What is going on??

Have added another honest £10 to the total, as OH will spend that amonut at the police canteen this week for dinners (I've convinced him to take two microwave ones this week at least), but it seems to be about the same price as a supermarket meal anyway. Oh well, late shifts through the week are at least only once every 3 weeks.

  • End of November budget was Thursday Evening :total 310.56 so slightly over but I am still quite pleased as the overspend was a bottle of bac*rdi which I have used to make toffee rum :o for xmas :D
I am off to the December thread now where this months budget will be £300 again and I will be trying to further reduce this in the new year :A

  • I'm at £148.05 for this month. Only need to get a bread roll to go with soup tomorrow so I will come in just under. I did buy a bottle of gin at the weekend but have taken that out of Dec's budget as its for when I have a friend down next weekend (if she makes it during the snow). Hope that's not cheating??? I only got it to bring my shop up to over £30 so I could get some bonus nectar points. Stay warm!
  • That's me declaring at £296.78. Didn't make my reduced budget of £275 but still came in under £300 so am fairly happy and think I will stick to that for December and see if I can whittle away at it in the new year. Haven't food prices gone up in the last few weeks though!

Firstly - those of you who aren't quite making your budgets - don't get downhearted. Take the positive out of the fact that if you hadn't been watching what you'd been spending, you would undoubtedly have spent more. So well done :T

Oh hun :grouphug: what a tough time you're having, and lack of sleep alone is enough to drag anyone's spirits down. I'm glad you sound like you're on the mend :)

Now we can be grumpy about no snow ....... YOU :( ME :( lol

About to go out for a granary loaf for our tea - or should I say, to "accompany" our tea. Things aren't quite so dire that we're having just a granary loaf between us :rotfl: so will report on my spend later.

I'm declaring for Nov at £578.67, £78.67 over but a lot of the damage was done last month :(

I've got an A*da order coming tomorrow for about £70 (and rising, annoyingly) but this will go into Dec.

Well done to everybody, good, bad (like me) and so-so and I'll see you on the December thread - I'm definitely going to keep closer tabs on things next month!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

  • I'm declaring at £83.14/£90 for November.
Pleased to have come in under, but suspect part of that is down to not shopping for the last week due to my cold and the weather - so been eating from stock - which means I will need to do a big shop when the snow clears.
