November 2010 Grocery Challenge

Kind of lost momentum towards the end of the month. I have 40 pounds sitting in my purse and plan to shop on Wednesday when i'm off work. Not sure what we're going to eat until then but i'm sure it'll be fine, maybe some random mixtures of meals but we won't starve. So have done well on the budget and am hoping to do the same next month.0

I have planned my evening meals for the week and based them on what I have in the house so I am hoping to finish the November challenge / start the December challenge on a good note. I haven't decided on how much I am allowing for December as need to think about "that week" but may set a separate budget for that and work out a small budget for the rest of the time. I certainly don't want a food spend of almost £500 in December.
I haven't meal planned lunches but will try to plan these also once I get ultra organised. I also think I am going to avoid m&$ this coming month! £71.90 spent there in November
I kind of meal planned last week and done the same for this week and its definitely a  moment. so easy just to sit for ten mins, think about whats in the cupboards etc and plan accordingly! Will be using up a lot of my frozen meals that I have batch cooked this week as its going to be a tad busy and I have a busy weekend planned also. Must try to do a meal plan each and every week though. its definitely the way forward. :j
good luck all and hugs to those who need them :grouphug:
ETA I spent £55.38 in Mr T, £21.12 in Co0p, £342.49 in Mr $ainsbug, £71.90 in m&$ and £5.50 in costcuter
further edited to add that I have decided on a December budget of £280 with a separate budget of £50 cash (plus £30 vouchers) for xmas bits. I am counting the xmas stuff separately because I don't want to get lost in overspending on xmas treats or buying now (and drinking now!) only to have to buy more closer to the day.0 -
Was really good on Friday in T$sco and apart from some drinkable yogurt at 99p that DH wanted to try I didnt buy anything that wasnt on the list. :T
Got some stew beef reduced and some flora for DH that was bogof. Total spent since last post is £40.88 so just £22.36 and only 2 days to go so very do-able me thinks as tomorrow will be a NSD for food at least.
Not declaring until 30th but - £325 FOR DECEMBER PLEASE this gives me £75 extra for Christmas as we have other family here both Christmas and boxing day, not sure who here for New Year yet . Hopefully wont need all this amount. Have a tin of Ro$e$ from last year that never got opened and am sure they will be ok to eat so wont need to buy them.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

Well there is no chance of me going shopping again this month as it is snowing heavy here right on top of the rest of the manky stuff.
I can declare a spend of £90.88 /£75 :eek::eek:
Total disaster this month I don't know what got into me but hey it is done now so cannot change it. Mind I have been in hospital so have had things I would not normally bother with and had to shop at Mr S mostly rather than Mr A.
Decembers Budget is going to be £100 allowing for Chrimbo extras etc

We have one lovely elderly lady who comes to the bakery on a regular basis, and from what she's said she's got an invalid DH at home. I'm pretty certain snow will leave her housebound, and am thinking about giving her my mobile number 'just in case'. Does anyone think I'm nuts to do this? I know she doesn't have any family locally, as she mentioned how lucky I was to have local family (DD brought GDs into the store while I was working when they still lived down this way).
Cheryl, that's a lovely thought. No, I dont think you're nuts, I think you should follow your gut feeling on this - if giving this lady your number feels right then just do it.
Isnt it such a shame that we have to think twice before offering help?

Well technically my month doesn't end until tomorrow but there's no chance I'm going shopping today, it was a battle just to get to work! So I'm declaring at £251.09 which is £31.09 over budget
I'm not too disappointed as if I hadn't have kept track it would have been alot more ( I would have popped to the shop a few times for the odd bottle of wine, for instance ) and included in this was £9.28 on gifts for my dads birthday so if I took this off I'd only be £21.81 over budget.
Going to aim for £280 next month to allow a little extra for Christmas, though I'm not sure whether this is doable as I need alot of household things as well ( toilet rolls, bin bags, kitchen roll, shampoo etc ) I shall try my best thoughGoing to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!
Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011
