If you read the listing all the way through, the last sentence leaves a very negative feeling about your ability to deliver the goods and since it's the last thing people read, leaves them on a bit of a negative. It's obvious that you're just being honest, but I think people expect overseas postage to take some time - I'd leave it off.pavlovs_dog wrote:i couldnt think of anything that i would seel on ebay that i would want to class as private

Okay so I've got some more suggestions - I hope these help...
Firstly it seems that your competitor (i could only find one) has re-vamped his listing and includes some really good stuff now (not good news for you!) - check out this listing... xxxxxxxxxx
Secondly - he has a better username than you... it makes me think this is the only thing this guy does...!
Thirdly he offers a free service of personalising the star chart with a specific time/date etc... how does he do this?? I checked out his purchase items that he got feedback for and he bought a machine on ebay that displays it for you... (item number xxxxxxxxxx)
I feel a bit mean telling everyone what else he bought as he is just trying to set himself up in a lucrative business, no different to what you are doing but there may be other items that are of interest to helping you set up...
I genuinely do feel a bit mean so have decided to take the item numbers out of this listing and am going to PM them to enchantador... Its up to enchantador if he wasnt to post them on here as he is the OP...or if you want to do your own searching or to PM me then fair enough, just dont think its fair to put too much info on here for all and sundry to gawp at!???
Interestingly enough though his history of purchases tells a very interesting tale... for someone who claims to have a lot of experience in this field he seems to only have newly obtained the kit to set this up, and indeed on 20th Jan 05 actually purchased a 'star ceiling poster' from someone else!! (who it seems no longer sells them) - item number xxxxxxxxxx
Anyway, I've had so much to say but my brain has gone blank its so late...
You say that you are an artist who can do this on peoples ceilings (i assume that you have done this before?) well I personally think you need to big yourself up a bit!!
Its late and this is just something I've knocked together really quickly erm - sorry if it comes out really naff, like I said my brain doesn't work!! but think it looks kind of catchy...?? its just a template of an idea that you could use on ebay, would need to get some more help from the guys here on presentation etc....??

Anyway, i'm off to bed - will switch my brain on and dechipher what i've written in the morning!

Thanks again Rachie. see PM
When doing ceilings we used to offer the day/date birthday service but to be honest most people were not that bothered so we don`t anymore. Knowing how it is done, I don`t really see much point in trying to squish it up to fit on a poster anyway.
If I did offer it, I don`t believe 99% of those that asked would know whether it was right anyway. It would mean more work/time per poster and if I thought it was something lots of people would want I would offer it, maybe people here would like to comment on whether.....
a) They would be more interested in buying a poster if the constellation displayed was the same as the one on the day they were born????
b) Having asked for the above, would they have any idea whether what was supplied was correct or not????
The results might be interesting.
Thanks to everyone once again.0 -
Ive just had a look and the first thing I thought was ,its like the enchanted ceiling in the Harry Potter books. Could you not put that in somewhere in the details ? I think you'd be allowed to mention the name as long as you werent saying it was officially an HP product.
How about putting it under posters? I typed in posters and it went to Home > All Categories > DVD, Film & TV > Film Memorabilia > Posters.0 -
Only kidding, thanks for the look see culpepper.
I have never seen HP so don`t really know what it is. Would an entry in a kids section with the heading `Your very Own Enchanted Ceiling` make sense???
Not convinced about the poster section which I would imagine is not one of the busiest, but I could be wrong (I usually am).
Thanks again.0 -
I think the enchanted ceiling thing sounds good.In the books the Wizard school is in an ancient castle and the great hall has an enchanted ceiling to always show the sky (so it looks like there is no ceiling) ofcourse it shows the stars at night. You could always give it a go anyway.Encantador wrote:Only kidding, thanks for the look see culpepper.

i like that!
think its a really good idea. kids are mad on harry potter, so long as you werent breaking any copyright laws or anything like that, i think that could be just the thing to give you the edge over your competitor. would be an added incentive for parents as well
the more i think about it the more i want one - how many days til payday?!!!!

My main competitor has just increased their prices by at leaast £3 per poster.
Now charging £12.99 for a `standard` poster and £14.99 for one with a specific constellation.
They were charging £9.99 across the board.
Very interesting.0 -
does this mean you could undercut them without making too much of a loss on overheads/production costs?
