  • I will PM those that have asked. You will then be free to do a search and buy from the other seller if you want..... (;0)

Seriously, I would be interested to hear whether the ad gets the message across as to what it is I am offering. Any suggestions as to how it can be improved would be most welcome.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to reply.

Even more seriously, anyone from here who does want to buy, I will send you one for the same price as the other seller, mention ths forum when you buy and change the total to £13.50 incl P&P

    ok, feedback time!

firstly, wow - what a really unique item! and a fab idea!

but...there are a few things that would stop me from buying one:

    a) it seems like the type of item that would be popular with teenagers - but i never would have stumbled across it hidden away amongst duvet covers and the like

    b) i understand that you have to cover production costs etc, but for what is essentially a poster, it can seem a bit pricey

    c) having said that, it seems like the type of thing, that at seasonal times of the year (christmas/valentines/easter etc etc) would sell very well because it has novelty appeal

    d) there appear to be at least two other people selling the same item. how are to going to stop me fromopening their thread and not yours?

    e) well..for one thing i would look at your picture...it is not as appealing as the one listed by your main competitor - his is much clearer that yours. this is omething you could look at.

    f) have you considered setting up a website to promote the item, and then referriing people over to ebay to actually purchase it? or even doing a bit of trade at a craft fair or something like that - just to get the word of mouth circulating?

    g) as for your feedback, it is clear that you have been on ebay for a while, HOWEVER, you dont seem to have done much business since september, and one of your feedback things is listed as private - which instantly makes my mind start asking questions.

how to fix it? get selling, get the feedback coming in. and if you can, get selling something that is at least remotely connected to your main item - glow in the dark stars or something. at least that way its not such a big jump from nicknacks from around the house, to what is essentially your business item.

    hope the above helps :D

  • I obviously have a lot to learn.

I was aware that the picture was an issue, having said that the other seller has had a few people moan about the quality of their pic, mine was supposed to be more realistic showing the room dark. I have no idea how I can change it but will have a look.

The item (having done whole ceilings) is actually just as appealing to adults as children. Most people are amazed at how realistic it looks and each night it looks different. You are asleep long before the effect fades and in the morning it`s gone.

People (if you can find one) will charge the best part of £100 to paint a full ceiling for you. My original idea was to sell DIY kits with the equipment and instructions to allow you to paint the whole ceiling yourself, partly so as not to compete directly with the other main seller. May have been a better idea than competing head on with the poters. These would have to sell for more though, probably £24.99 for a double (or 2 single) bedrooms.

    Still need feedback first though.

Thanks again to everyone including those that have PM`d me for taking the time.

Any other ideas, thoughts, orders (;0) welcome.

I am intrigued as to why a `Private` sale would ring alarm bells. Especially as I was the buyer and presumably have no control over this. Can you elaborate a little please.

Enchantador, love the product! Maybe you should do a 'poll' to find out where people would expect to see it listed as I not sure Duvets is the premium slot? I can see the logic with the fact that people may buy this when people thay are decorating their kids bedrooms or buying new bedding etc (as that is what we will be looking to do soon). Not sure what category myself but maybe others have ideas??

    Rachie :)

p.s. I'll be buying one I think - just gotta tink about when we gonna decorate etc!

perhaps you could show two pictures - one of the poster as you have it, and maybe one of the poster displayed in a room? just a thought...

maybe you could try a few and see how they go? gues it would depend on how easy it is to do. i'd rather shell out for the poster if my artistic abilities...or lack of lol...would spoil the finished effect.

i wasnt having a dig lol, its just my suspicious mind :D curiosity killed the cat, didnt do much to the dog tho!!!!

its just things like that can cause people to think that there might be something to hide - could just be me and my limited imagination, but i couldnt think of anything that i would seel on ebay that i would want to class as private is all

  • It was actually a recipe website, I have no idea why the seller made it a private auction and to be honest I don`t even remember noticing at the time.

Unfortunately, the real thing is impossible to photograph, when it goes dark and you get the effect, there is not enough light to take a picture. That`s why the computer generated ones have to be used. There is no way to get across how good it actually is UNFORTUNATELY.

As most potential buyers will have no real idea what to expect, that`s why I thought the noney back guarantee would be a good idea.

    Thanks again for your input.

PS Anyone want to buy a hardly used recipe website???

Does a flash spoil the effect? or if you have any photographer friends, has anyone got a camera with long exposure or whatever it is that takes photos in low light?

Also... recipe website???? eh??? Sounds like a bit of a mad seller you bought that off ;)
