How to get started......

OK, I have the product, only 1 other seller selling approx 30 units a week, they have plenty of good feedback. I have non as a seller.
My product is £1.50 more, but am offering a full money back guarantee and quicker posting. The other seller will only post once a week and does not offer MBG.
The classic chicken and egg, no feedback, no sales. Over the last few days they have sold 10, me none.
Options to get started....
1. Stand my ground and hope for the best.
2. Sell slightly under their price (we are both using BIN), keep the MBG.
3. Sell well under their price scap the MBG.
4. Advertise under different categories to them. It is an impulse buy, not something anyone would be looking for so any busy category would do.
5. ???????
Help
Thanks in advance.

Start off by selling some of your old stuff around the house to build up a little feedback first. Once you've got around 10+ positives people will be more likely to check out your auctions.0

I would have thought it would be your feedback, and the fact you are charging a little more - Try lowering your price and see how that goes and perhaps create an ME page I would probably go with the more trusted seller rather then one charging slightly more!

thats what im doing.
People ask you questions about your item and you need to answer (tick show answer with listing) then people can see you are actually keen to sell something.
I put up a picture and use gallery so it shows beside the listing when its alongside all the others .0 -
I agree with the feedback thing - I'm often wary of people with no feedback because of the scammers out there..... I'm not sure if its a good thing to do but can you incorporate a bit of your extra cost and postage fees together and offer free p&p?? e.g. up the price by 50p and lose 80p per sale just to get the ball rolling?? Its just an idea??
Make sure you research the wording of your title too as some people don't really know how to use a search engine so you need to get as much info in your title as possible!!
Make sure you highlight that you are a UK seller if any other sellers are from abroad....????
Ummm..... ???
Hope this helps???

Sell some little cheap things at cost or a little less to build up good feedback. Maybe postcards or novelty keyrings or something.
The earlier advice about selling stuff from arounf the house is good too. Feedback is the essential element.0 -
......for the ideas so far.
The item is not something anyone would be searching for, it is something that you would see having come across it by accident and either like it or not.
Whether you would then search to see if anyone else is selling it, I don`t know.
One option is to try it in compltely different category to the other seller (discussed in an earlier thread), at the moment we are in the same category, the one that most closely fits the item. But, it is just as likely a person searching for a mobile phone or a book on plants would see it and like it.
It is quite likely that a buyer would like to have 2 of them, I notice that the other seller regularly sells 2 (at the same time) to a seller, so offering 2 for the price of 1 may also be an option, at least for the time being.
What I don`t want to be seen to be doing is constantly changing my ad, would that look like panic? Is it best to change mid stream (I am about half way through a 10 day sale) or wait till it ends, take the hit re fees and no sales and change the next ad???
I have 28 fedbacks (96.7% due to one neg months ago from someone who retaliated after I left them a neg) but all as a buyer.
What else can you add to instil confidence in your potential buyer. I assumed a money back guarantee would be worth something, but maybe not. My feedback shows I am a good buyer and have been around a while, which should also mean something.
As the item is a little out of the ordinary, would general feedback (sellling things from round the house) be worthwhile, or do I really need feedback saying how good the item is???
If it helps, we are creating the item in exactly the same way, in fact, mine is slightly larger, but don`t suppoe that means a great deal (unless you are a man of course (;0)
Thanks again for the help so far.0 -
Hi - Buy and few cheap things to get some feedback, could be one way. When I first sold some collectables had no feedback but it soon mounted up.

pavlovs_dog - you aren't the only one!! The curiosity is killing me! Any chance on letting me know too?
What % feedback does the other seller have Encantador? I admit I would more likely go for the seller with the highest feedback - I usually read feedback if its below about 98% to find out what went on etc...
Anyway, am very intrigued - spill the beans!!Official DFW Nerd 210
