Photo's of DIY stove installations

The other website you subscribe to has a thread "show us your stoves" or title to this affect, members duly uploaded images of their stove installations.
You sir came barging in suggesting there were errors you could view from an image, you were duly shot down for your ignorant post, you did apologise though for your irrational post/s, whilst you were no doubt munching on humble pie.
Good grief man, you install stoves, and there is nothing wrong with this, it's hardly brain surgery is it!!
It's now becoming clearer why you got out of the aircraft engineering game!

It's due to people repeatedly branding all HETAS fitters as bad. There are some out there that like to do a nice job!
Welda - There was some appalling DIY installations posted. I'd never get paid if i did them to that standard. What i said was true I just maybe shouldn't have said so. You live and learn. (I can't actually believe you bothered to go through that thread......you have way too much time on your hands......busy eh?)
I'm merely just trying to defend what some of us do for a living and take a lot of pride in what we do. That's all.
My main point all along is that if people bought good quality stoves there would be a lot more people in the world that would be delighted with their stoves and they'd see why they're more expensive.
Badger has a huge hatred for building regulations but the truth is that they work. Chimney fires are down....massively........even though new installations are up.....massively. I've seen many DIY jobs and they're truly dangerous and appalling. On the whole the building regs work.
Like i've said a few times though.....maybe preaching to the wrong crowd.0 -

I'm certainly not branding all fitters bad, I've had no need to use one, hardly puts me in a position to criticize does it!

Again no one to my knowledge has questioned your installation capabilities, I do question how you, or anyone else can criticize a box sitting on a slab and state it is badly installed! Go check your reply dated "Posted: Fri Dec 18, 2009 6:00 pm " your words, not mine. Seven page thread hardly takes time to work through, I went through that thread because I find it interesting to view others work, plus the fact, it's a forum, there for anyone to peruse through, you do it. As for too much time, your "best one yet" thread takes you to over a thousand posts, plus what you have here? Point is though, when people make such statements as you have done regarding I/net use are losing the battle, what time you and I spend using the net is irrelevant!!!

No one is asking you to defend yourself, no one has suggested you do not do good acceptable work.
My main point all along is that if people bought good quality stoves there would be a lot more people in the world that would be delighted with their stoves and they'd see why they're more expensive.
I'm delighted with my stove, I'm also delighted with being able to complete a difficult installation, it was a learning curve. Mr CRP I do not need you to tell/advise me what is a good or bad purchase, it is also evident some members here feel the same as me, we are intelligent people, yes of course we ask for advice from the experts if and when required, you do however do your best to railroad people into your way of thinking, this is wrong.

My alter ego will no doubt be along to defend himself, again another indication of you losing this battle with irrational scaremongering referring to chimney fires. I did my own install, now into it's third season, no fires to date, although this is due to me keeping good house when it comes to flu cleaning and what I burn. Nothing to do at all with regs!
Like i've said a few times though.....maybe preaching to the wrong crowd.[/QUOTE]
We don't need preaching to Mr CRP, think about your last statement, does this not remind you of your reply on othr site?

Ps Apologies for my bold text reply, quote button doesnae seem to work for me ............

I have a strong mistrust of regulations dreamed-up by trade bodies and/or limited companies that benefit from them. The electrical trade is equally suspect.
As for HETAS, the recent problems experienced by a poster to this forum spoke volumes.
Now, you were saying something about my having self-installed.... or do we take this sudden change of tack that as an admission you were just fabricating stuff?0 -
Badger.....i'm not avoiding the fact.....yeah i got it wrong....it really only points out that i forgot that you'd had it installed by a HETAS fitter. It's not that big a deal. I'm still curious to see it. The link between that and wondering how I managed to become an aircraft engineer was a bit of a cheap, unintelligent shot though:-) Didn't really deserve a response.
Welda - "it is also evident some members here feel the same as me"
If you mean Badger...then yeah, i suppose you could describe him as 'some'.
"your "best one yet" thread takes you to over a thousand posts" Good point but it's less than 1 post per day.....and i don't go trawling through forums to dig dirt on other users. It is also my profession....not just for fun. I do it to help people out and as a by product it brings in lots of work.0 -

I'm trying to remember the band that brought out the song "your unbelievable" very fitting for a fitter!!
Have a good one n :beer:0 -
Found it, EMF, I actually met the band a few year back while doing a diving job on/under Gran Canaria :j:j:j
