  • I would just like to point out one little thing to newbie R&Rers and people joining this thread. In light of Tesco's recent actions in regards to banning and sending out letters asking people to report to managers before shopping in Tesco, I think it's only wise to keep personal details to a minimum, including the name or area of the shop you've received a refund from. The reason for this is because Tesco HO does read the thread, as do some store managers and staff. One surefire way to identify yourself to them is to post all the details of your R&Rs on here.

I think it even applies if you also say such things in detail as

    Got 2 x Trivial Pursuit,

    3 x Noddy Annuals

    2 x Tefal Irons

    All in one store.........£89 refunded.

They've surely got a piece of software that can pick such an anomaly out, and if they havent, I'm sure they soon will.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Just to put your paranoia in context....the store i am in (albeit one of the larger ones) has 50 thousand transactions per week. This means 50000 receipts and this does not include refunds, TPF transactions etc.

Now imagine all nearly 2000 stores that tesco have in their chain, admittedly not all process anywhere near the amount of transactions but i'm sure that you get the picture.

Next imagine that you are looking for a transaction comprising of 2 x Trivial Pursuit, 3 x Noddy Annuals and 2 x Tefal Irons from the database of receipts stored. Even if it is a computer program doing this, it is going to take a considerable amount of time, computer power and resources....all to look for one customer that had a refund. Sure there are parameters that can be used to narrow down the search but in the first instance all receipts are going to have to be searched. It is simply not feasible.

Paranoia is another thing that seems to go in cycles on this thread....MUNT's suggestion certainly bears weight, others i feel may be going a little too far.

  • Can one exchange an item if he receives an r&r and they remember to mark the receipt?
Basically if i bought a game that i would like to have changed if it was a game unliked by the recipient, WAAAH, then it would be allowed. Now that i received an R&R because i was overcharged am i now unable to exchange it as i already have refund tagged to my receipt....
Seems my rights are slightly affected (i don't want another refund, just an exchange for a similar item)

    Any1 tried a marked receipt exchange? :o

Dont give them the receipt.. go in there saying it was a pressie.. i did this last week, swapped to GBA games for Buzz the quiz on Ps2.. they gave me £5 back aswell!!

I dont think its paranoia........How many £80 to £100 refunds will have been given today..............I think a piece of software could easily find that out......The software doesnt have to search every transaction.....it just needs to flag those with refunds.....and search the refunds. With pending(maybe) investigations by Watchdog or other bodies, I see it feesable that Mr T should wish to find out where its major RandRers are operating.....and who they might be. I posted earlier on the 16 or so people who have sent their details to HO, to get their bans lifted...........Have they had them lifted.....or has HO, now just got all their details......Makes you wonder.

Just done a google search for "3 noddy".....came up with 1.2 million results in a fifth of a second.
