That T-Mobile package is awful compared to Voda ;)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

I am told by Tmobile that it is not on their site yet, obviously they get plently of revenue through people not knowing this and paying more than 30 p per minute. I understand it costs about £2.50 for 30 minutes, so that makes about 8p/minute not sure if you can buy multiple lots for the month.

Friend says its all too complicated so he will carry on paying through the nose!!

    Hi jimjames,

I am sorry to hear there has been some confusion regarding this.

We actually do two separate packages that include 0800, 0870 and 0845 numbers. The first one is £2.50 a month and will deduct these numbers from your inclusive minutes and the second is £5 a month and instead of deducting them, you have a fair usage policy of 3000 minutes to use.

If you need any further help, feel free to get in touch with me directly via the email address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. Please also include a link to this thread.

    Hi guys,

Just as an update on this, we now only offer one package at £3 (inc.VAT) a month in which numbers to 0800, 0870 and 0845 numbers are deducted from your inclusive allowance.

    Kind regards,

Wow. I've read this thread with amazement. Today I called Vodafone to upgrade/get better deal as i have less than 1 month remaining on my contract.

I was offered a 12 month SIM only plan with 150 minutes (im not a big phone user), unlimited texts and 100mb of internet a month, PLUS the adviser offered me an "addon" for FREE 0845, 0800, 0870 calls for £X a month ALL IN (thats the price i pay) Great, i thought. Those 40 minute calls to Virgin Medias 0845 call centers waiting in the queue will be FREE.

I told the adviser I was not aware Vodafone did such an addon for free 0845s, etc. Anyway, while later after thinking about it he called me back and I accepted the renewal offer.

I decided to do a 'google' on the offer and found vodafones forum, where i found a thread with many unhappy customers finding out the calls to 0800/0870/0845 are NOT free, they come of a seperate 150 minutes monthly allowance for these numbers. The vodafone rep i spoke to today offering me my renewal said nothing of this, only that I would have FREE calls to such numbers. The lack of clarity on a simple issue has made me very distressed.

I just called Vodafone again about 40 minutes ago for them to clarify exactly what I had in regards to this addon. Got through to what sounded like an overseas call center. I was told its 0845/0870/0800 for £3 a month that includes VAT. She went on to say I get 150 minutes a month seperate allowance for these calls, once used, you get charged for them at their usual rate.

Now Heidi you are saying this is untrue. If i read correctly you said the calls no longer have a seperate allowance of their own, they simply all come out of your inclusive minutes.

Does Vodafone make things up as they go along? Do any of the staff communicate?

I'm sorry If i seem to distressed, its just that... i am!! And there is no need for it, all im asking for is clarity and truth for a simple issue.

    Why con?
At other providers they don't come off your minutes and cost you a fortune. I think £3 will last no more than 5-6 minutes.
Here it is up to you either to pay through your nose for each minute or to pay £3 for a bundle.
  • After much deliberation and being on hold, it seems it's now only one addon/bundle which is £2.50+VAT which means 0845/0800/0870 come out of your inclusive minutes.

Very much worth the money in my opinion (as long as you have sufficient minutes to absorb the duration of your calls to these numbers).

    Hi welshlad2k,

I understand that there is a lot of confusion around this package. We used to offer two separate bundles, one with a set allowance and one that came out of your inclusive minutes in your plan, which seems to have caused the confusion.

You are exactly right, we now offer just one package at £2.50 plus VAT which deducts them straight from the minutes in your price plan.

I have fed your comments back with regards to the miscommunication.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Heidi
An hour or so ago I negotiated a new 12 month deal on my sim only plan - however the retention agent was insisting i pay £5 per month for the 0845/0870/0800 add on which i refused. Obviously this is incorrect, are you able to add this for £2.50 (+vat) on my new deal?
