Vodafone Inclusive 0800, 0845 and 0870 calls add-on

Hi there,

I'm looking to move to Vodafone from O2 (mainly due to the decreasing quality of the coverage on my BlackBerry). Anywho, I make a lot of international calls (usually shoot a text off to 83006 and get credit added to bill and call via a 0207 landline number, etc) - however it seems Vodafone have the option to use your inclusive minutes for 0844 0870 0800 numbers - does this mean I can potentially dial the usual 1p/2p etc access numbers (like I do from my landline) and it will just come off my inclusive minutes? How does the 1p/2p get charged on the bill? Anyone have any experience of this?

I asked Vodafone that exact question and the guy I spoke to wasn't sure.


Just to clarify, the inclusive calls to all 08 numbers is a bolt-on which costs £2.50 per month.


Edit: this seems to be quite a new option, so hard to get clear info

Vodafone offer the 08 Bundle 100mins for £5.00 per month for the Your Plan Priceplan Version 2 and £2.50 per month for Your Plan Priceplan Version 1 ( The newest plans they offers is the Version 2) and only allows calls to 0800, 0845 and 0870 no other prefixes included.

Just to bear in mind, When you add the bundle on it combines with your normal minutes, so you have to call Vodafone to confirm how many mins are remaining.

I spoke to Vodafone today and they told me it's for ALL 08 numbers, including 0844, 0871 etc, though they may be misinformed.

They also said it's a £2.50 bolt-on, no mention of £5.......so I presume it must be £2.50 for any new contract.

By the way, t-mobile contract customers can also buy a £2.50 bolt-on which gives you 30 minutes of calls per month to ANY 08 number (including 0871, 0844 etc).

Sorry... Have had a look at their website and the pricing is 2.50 per month (May have recently change) but it only covers 0800, 0845 and 0870 as per information from their site, So if there are calls made to 0843,0844 etc then you will be charged at normal rates.

Find you make a lot of calls to 0800, 0845 or 0870 numbers like help lines or utility companies?
Add this extra to your price plan and you can use your inclusive minutes to call premium-rate numbers.
Save money - a 30-minute call to a premium-rate number would normally cost you £6 - but for just £2.50, this extra lets you use your usual inclusive minutes
Talk for longer - there's no 60-minute call cap, so however long you're in a call queue for, it'll come out of your inclusive minutes with this extra. Once you've used up your inclusive minutes, you'll be charged the standard 20p a minute when calling premium-rate numbers
No tie-in - if you find you've stopped making as many 0800, 0845 and 0870 calls, call us or visit one of our stores to cancel this extra

As an aside, for those seeking to go 'landline free', if you have a couple of unused mobiles in your house (or you don't mind swapping sims), it's worth getting an Asda mobile simcard to cover your 0845 calls which are 8ppm with them HOWEVER if you buy the simcard online for £5 you get £10 credit. This makes the 0845 calls 4ppm as long as you order another one when the first runs out. The other sim you need is giffgaff, which is sent out free from their website. I can't remember the minimum top-up, but 0800 and 0808 calls are free from that provider.

The difficulty is with 0870, 0871 and 0844 numbers.

I'm not sure of a non-fiddly way to get these cheaply from a mobile without a contract.

Any suggestions?

cheers guys, I guess there might be access numbers that use the 0870 0845 etc access numbers - wonder how they charge (if at all they do)?

It seemed the vodafone bolt on is only available with certain tariffs? (The option does not appear against orders on most tariff).

Can't find the T Mobile 30 minutes extras (See some for international calling but not for 08xx ?)

There are 0845 access numbers (but no 0870) but the destinations tend to be pretty limited. (think qx call has 0845 access no stilll). You can normally call these access numbers via landline unlimited packages without much issue (it is calling 08xx from mobiles that is a real pain)
