Winter Fuel Allowance - when paid?

As first timers (OH became 60 in June, and we have completed the claim form etc.), please can anyone tell us which month the winter fuel allowance is paid? Need to budget the current account so it doesn't overdraw.
Thanks for any answer to this.

From the DWP websiteWhen are payments made?
If you got a Winter Fuel Payment last winter, you should automatically get a Winter Fuel Payment for this winter as long as your circumstances have not changed and you satisfy the conditions.
All automatic Winter Fuel Payments should be made by Christmas. If you have not had a Winter Fuel Payment by then, you should call the office that pays your benefit or entitlement or call the Winter Fuel Payment helpline on 08459 15 15 15 (08545 601 5613 for text phone users).
If you are making a claim, you should return your claim form as soon as possible. See “How to claim Winter Fuel Payments”. We expect to make payments by Christmas for successful claims that we receive by the Friday of the September qualifying week. We cannot guaratee a payment by Christmas if your claim is received after this.
If you make successful claim for a Winter Fuel Payment this winter and remain eligible, you should get your payment automatically in the future, as long as you let us know about any changes in your circumstances.0 -
Wow, excellent reply and so quick! Very many thanks for that, although the system here only lets me thank you once  .
So we won't expect it much before Christmas, and even that is not guaranteed. Just as well to know the details. Great link.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

November, usually. We got ours on 24th November last year. We get half each paid into our individual accounts (the same place where our State Retirement Pension gets paid into).

The winter fuel allowance is paid over a period of time. The first batch of people will receive theirs in mid November and all payments are complete by early December.

I don't understand these payments. My husband is exactly a year older than I am (same day) and when he hit 60 he got £200 and was well chuffed. The following year because I was 60 too he only got £100 and I got what he thinks is 'his' other £100. Very strange. I think he'd like me to give him 'his' £100 back, but darned if I will !!!!!!!!!0

Yes, that's right. That's what happens with us. It drops straight into our bank accounts.
It usually goes straight into savings....

Yes, the Winter Fuel Allowance payments have started to be paid out this week. They are scheduled to be complete by early December.

As a matter of interest, I know someone who's surname begins M and they have theirs, mine is H and I have not received mine yet. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
