I had a nightmare journey with these guys in March 2009.

First problem was waiting on the bus leaving the airport as they waited on another plane landing before heading off.

The transfer to the hotel took 2 hours for what should have been a 20 minute journey. The bus driver blared the horn and shouted abuse out of the window for the whole time.

Spent 2.5 hours on the return transfer getting a tour round every town in Costa Brava picking folk up all over the place. We weren't the first pick up either so some folk had been on the bus even longer. Out of order really considering the flight home was only 2 hours!

    ...did they say why?

They admitted they had made a mistake and that the booking had gone into the wrong file which is why they had not got back to us with a time. It wasn't until we contacted them that they realised the mistake. However, according to them we were told where we would be picked up and since we were not there at the right time they are blaming us.

It was actually a miscommunication over the phone because we were told to go to a certain petrol station to be picked up. Being a tourist I obviously am not aware of all the petrol stations in the resort and had only seen one on the walk down to the beach so when I asked if that was the one they said yes. It was obviously the wrong one since we were never picked up.
  • Just thought I would put a quick update. I have complained to ABTA ref Resorthoppa quoting the lowcostholiday.com ABTA membership number. ABTA have got back to me to say that resorthoppa is not a member of theirs so there is nothing they can do. I am almost certain when I booked they said they were a member of ABTA on their website but now it seems to have disappeared from their website. There doesn't seem to be anymore I can do to get a refund on my taxi fare.

DO NOT USE RESORTHOPPA. They maybe the cheapest but there is definately a reason for that!

I agree, Highcostholidays.ltd and resorthoppa are ones to avoid, always have done.....
and ABTA are the most useless bunch of numpties ever. I opened a case with them for one of there agents who acted in a misleading way, and there reply was basically "if it costs more than £20 for us to do anything, we cant be bothered so u may as well just let yourself get ripped off"
    doh!
Luckily my local TS were very keen to investigate, so once that was mentioned, monies returned and i told ABTA they were most helpful in protecting the agent, not the consumer :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what's a local TS? Maybe I can go through them instead.

You need to call Consumer Direct (google them), and say you need there advice on how to proceed in recovering monies from a contract not completed by a UK agent.....
That will set you on the right path :)
    My case was slightly different.
IE: Alpharooms.com advertise a hotel in Vegas, i booked it (deposit), then found out theres a resort fee to pay when i get to the hotel (this will be June), i asked for my money back as i was un-aware of additional charges, alpharooms said they would cancel my booking but i lose my £60 deposit.. i said thats not fair as i wasn't informed of additional charges (took them 4 emails to find out about the extra charges)....
I argued that i want out because of this, they said Pee off!
I rang consumer direct, bloke was helpful as he could be, and said at the end of the day, you enter into a contract with a UK agent, its there duty to provide the service/item you pay for/entered into contract for. If they dont fulfill, theres room to seek £.
I explained lots about how its mis-leading for someone to advertise a 'TOTAL' cost only to be stung when you goto get your item/service.....
The Consumer Direct bloke must have mentioned this the followin day as i had a letter from 'TS' asking for all the details as they would like to investigate.... However, i emailed Alpharooms one last time before i had this letter saying to Alpharooms to 'Confirm that the total price advertised for which i entered into a contract for will not cost me anymore on my arrival' , next thing i know, i got my money back!!
I guess by confirming that there is more to pay, they admit a breach, by confirming there were no additional charges, they would have done themselves!!
    :)

    Hi All
Just to end my side of this story. Out of the blue I received a full refund from ResortHoppa it wasn't as much as the taxi fare but I'm far from complaining.
Thank you whoever instigated the refund

Thanks for the update Nigel, wish more people would do this.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • charged card twice, and have said because I didnt tell them before I went, they said they wont give me my 2nd tranch of payment back.

I was quite happy with the transfer between Venice Airport and the Hotel (rtn) but when I came back I found that my credit card had been charged twice. No biggy, I thought, they will just refund the second one.

Nope! Having spoken with 3 people in the call centre, who promised to either call me back or reply by email, on the fourth occasion I said I would wait on the line until someone could help me....when they did come on, they said I wouldn't be receiving a refund becuase I didnt tell them before I went away. But it doesnt show on the card statement until the end of the month.

I have put a complaint in, and sent 4 emails, none of which have been responded too.

Purely for their customer service, I would not book resorthoppa again. They have basically taken money from me, which they know is wrong!
