I disagree.
So do I.
Around 20 years ago I lived at an address where the previous occupant had financial problems. Although my bank would lend me money, I was unable to get credit elsewhere until I moved. As soon as I moved I had no problems getting credit again.
Unfortunately, it wasn't as easy to check the records with the credit reference agencies then as it is today.

You're right. I don't respect Experian in the slightest so this is nothing personal. Chat to us on your own personal account and you'll find you'll get more respect. Peoples claims about Experian are far from wrong and you know it. You're being paid to sit here and defend Experian and the numbers they sell to people but why don't you give us your own honest opinion about them, on your own personal account? We’ve had to remove your signature. Clearly lenders use whatever data they find useful to make decisions about credit. That includes whatever they can get from one or more CRAs and it includes data they have collected themselves, and it also might include data obtained from other sources.
I think what is meant is that there is no "credit address blacklist" that is operated and shared amongst lenders and that if you live there, you will never get credit.
Now, that means a specific address will not be globally blacklisted.
That doesn't mean that a lender might not use data about a postcode and it's socioeconomic makeup to decide on credit worthiness.
For example if we take away any data about the individual applicants, is it reasonable to consider that someone living in a postcode in Chelsea or Notting Hill might *just* be - on the balance of things - more creditworthy than a postcode belonging to a housing scheme in Glasgow?
I'd say so.No doubt I'd discard many babies with bathwater, and I am sure there's some truth in that notion with the real situation.
Sort of.

Oh shove off and take your worthless crappy scores with you.
"We are the UK's leading provider of credit scoring tools!!" - Yeah, you and two other companies.. not exactly a lot of competition in the market, is there? You're only "leading" because we are forced to use you, Equifax and Call Credit.
I hope we do make you laugh because you're clearly indenial about your pathetic and meaningless products. Speaking of your worthless 3 digit "score", I'll give you two digits and it won't a number.
Is there really any reason for such a petulant post? We have an experian rep on the boards which could actually come in useful for some people."I don't want to sound cold and un-caring, but I am those things so that's the way it comes out" - Bill Hicks0 -

Yeah if and when he stops falsely advertising and falsely representing a useless product.
It's almost trolling; finding any post possible to market this "Score" crap that by my own and fellow members' evidence and experience, is not what he represents it to be, in the slightest.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

From my reading of this thread, there appears to be some people that I would never lend any money too!0

Arggh, this is exactly what I'm worried about. Do you think it was different back then?
If this is the case, it surely must be possible to get your address cleared somehow?
I'm not a violent person. But the thoughts I've been having about what I'd do to this character if I ever met him are scaring me.0 -

James.
Things were different in the past. Up to 1993 credit checks were simply carried out by address. In 1993/4 this was tightened to family unit, and from 2004 it became individual plus any financial associates.
By the way, this used to be my personal account but I was asked to become the official company rep by MSE to comply with the site rules about posting on behalf of companies.

?
I think we pretty much covered all bases there didn't we?
If your credit score is a guide to credit worthiness, please kindly explain why me, with a "Very Poor" experian score of 502 has been approved for the following in the last 30 days: (And don't blame it on the searches resultant from the below mentioned applications, because I purchased the score before making any with only one footprint in the preceding six months)
#300 Capital One Progress Card
#4,000 Zopa Loan at 12.9% APR
#3,000 LTSB Overdraft at 10.4% APR
#1,000 HSBC Overdraft at 18.9% APR (NEW CUSTOMER - No account history with them)
#1,500 HSBC Mastercard at 16.9% APR (NEW CUSTOMER - No account history with them)
?
And also please explain why my mother with a 980 "Excellent" score has been declined by every major lender on the high street?
Believe me, it isn't a guide. Your responses on the above mentioned thread and real world experiences prove this.
Our contact centre should be able to advise you on this. I can't see your credit report and I don't know your other details. Your score was extremely low so I suspect something is amiss.
