There's really no need to be rude Elky Elky. You're entitled to your opinion of course - just as I'm entitled to set the record straight when people post claims about Experian that are wrong - but please keep it respectful.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

Ok, set this straight then - say I pay Experian for a "credit score".

Can a lender see that score or can they not see it?

I don't mean can they calculate their own score by performing analytics on your data, but can they see that very same "Experian Score" that I've just paid you for?

    Yes or no?

No. My post above at 11am makes this clear, as does our website. The Experian Credit Score is a guide for consumers only. The scores we help lenders calculate incorporate other data. This includes information about people's financial associates, which we can't incorporate into the ECS for data protection reasons.

So lets have a categoric statement here, would you agree that the following is accurate.

"The Experian credit score has no relevance to an individuals ability to obtain credit from a lender, it is an indicative score only based purely upon Experian own credit scoring model. It should not be used in any way as an indication that lenders will provide credit. When purchasing this score the individual making the payment should be aware that it is relevant only to Experian, who do not personally make loans"

That pretty much covers it. So in essence, either spend your 5.99 on a meaningless credit score, or blow it on a pizza. Purchasing the latter will give you far more satisfaction and has just as much impact on your ability to obtain credit

You "love" paying for a number you know is worthless?

If you love seeing numbers so much.. I can hook you up with a great deal. 10 sets of 3 digit numbers for £10. PM me. Here's a freebie to get your juices flowing: 826.

I'm doing 20 numbers for a tenner, and not only that but I am going to increase the scores to 4 figures so that you feel even better. Here's my freebie 8788

If you pay me twenty quid I will make sure all your figures are in the 9,000's :rotfl:

It is not a credit score, it is just a score.

Experian do not lend, they are not providers of credit so your magic number is just a plain old score. Calling it a credit score is misleading and I can't believe you still get away with this blatant deception.

He's probably gone off to check his "score" :rotfl:

I've always wondered, why £5.99? why not £8.99 or £4.99?

I guess £5.99 is on the limit of what people will pay without smelling a rat.

A credit score is a numerical expression of creditworthiness. You don't have to be a lender to calculate one, all you need is data and know-how.

I got 958, probably because I just moved home.
