I recieved the following email this morning:

Thanks for your email about your recent order. I'm sorry that the doll you received wasn't what you where expecting. I can understand how frustrating this must be for you, as this was for your granddaughter.

We work very hard to ensure our website is both informative and accurate. I've tried to call you on the number provided on your account but no one was available to take the call. This was an error on our website and one of my colleagues tried to get in contact with you to let you know. If you wish to order the Baby Annabel doll with all the features, it's priced as £44.99 and the item code number for the website is 116145771.

We work very hard to ensure we deliver excellent customer service from your order to the point it arrives in your home. This item was sent by Royal Mail so no card would be left with you.

If you need more information, please email or call us on 0800 328 1700 where one of my colleagues will be happy to help.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we look forward to seeing you online shortly.

Has you can imagine i was not best pleased. especially since they haven't tried to call.
I have sent a lovely email back  i have been and purchased the original one plus a couple of other bits so i am happy, But i am not telling them so. and the fact that i have been overcharged for an 1/2 price item this morning, i bet whoever opens my email this morning really wished that they hadn't done so.

What a bloomin cheek, the doll is half price in store they could have at least offered you it for the store price.

I know thats what i thought too. i am peeved at them as the doll they have sent doesn't match whats written on the invoice, so i think if i had been able to take back to store i think i would have had a task and a half on my hands . so at the moment i am stuck with it
I am certain that the customer services will be pulling their hair out with me before long :rotfl:

To be honest im not sure why everyones so cross, yes they made a mistake and yes they have owned up to that i dont think you can expect anymore. I too have recieved 1st annabel and need to return my 1st reaction was being cross, i havent been offered postage refund, but im going to return it via my store at some point this coming week. We all knew it was an error on their site when ordering so why be so cross?

I would be cross if they tried to cover it up, but they havnt they told us all its an error. People make mistakes

I'm not cross at them for the mistake, like you say we knew it was and was worth a try, i am more annoyed that i cannot return to a local store, i begrudge driving 20 miles to take it back, the invoice doesn't match what is in the box so may have a hard time proving it, so i will have to pay to return it. and i have driven to a store this morning, picked up the original doll which i am glad about and then been overcharged for a half price item.

Have to agree, shame you all got the wrong item, but the fact it was a "possible glitch" means you all knew it might not be the original,it was a mistake, mistakes happen....it was kind of obvious, since there was a £44 doll on the site and the £14.99 wih the same pic...would have been nice if you all got the original, but you never so really why is everyone acing like they have been conned ....:D

You should have taken it in to the store this morning and asked for an exchange for the one you were buying...if it states the original doll on the invoice, dont worry about "proving its what was in the box" .you should recieve whats on your invoice(sorry now its clearer why your annoyed:)....id have gone to CS and asked to exchange it ..x

I cannot believe that Sainsburys have dealt with this in such a manner! I would have expected them to have excellent customer service! The fact they are blatantly sending the wrong item does not make sense as they must know they will get it sent back at their expense? Would it not have made more sense to admit the mistake hold their hands up and say 'sorry, we can't offer at £14.99 but would be pleased to offer at £22.50 (sale price) as a gesture of goodwill' instead of annoying people with the fob off?
I would just like to mention I did not order one of these but very disappointed in the way Sainsbury's have handled everyone!

I didn't buy one under this offer, I managed to get one in store though for £22.49 but isn't is obvious why people are annoyed, it was an error on the website, where the description and photo matches that of a higher model, they should have cancelled the orders not sent out the item they were meant to put there.

remember the disney princess cameras priced at 19.99 instead of 59.99 a few weeks ago? they honoured that one and amended the price after they realised, fingers crossed this might work out similarly, my littlest one would love one of these but i can't afford full price so worth a punt i reckon

customer service pretty good in my opinion - i recently had items that arrived but were damaged, they apologised profusely, gave me a full refund for everything right away and arranged for it to be returned as well as chucking a few extra nectar points on my card next time i went shopping...

I got 2 of these cameras, this post kind of sums it up.

This is the same issue I had with Next and the Fireman Sam Fire Station! Although in the end, after several emails, I got a £20 gift card!

  • If you want to presist with it, I would try ringing and saying that you never received what you ordered and you are reluctant to send that one back as then you are out of contract if you return it . So can you reorder the correct one that you had originally ordered and ask for them to honor the price, order on the phone pay the 14.99 again and take the one you have back when its suits you and get a refund.

Being overly nice sometimes gets you more than you would expect ;)
