Why do they not provide contactless cards. I have a Santander basic it is great, but no contactless card.
Simply because they don't want to.... Its up to each individual bank to decide if they want to offer contactless cards on their basic accounts or not.
If contactless is something you want then open a Nationwide Flexbasic account as that has a contactless debit card.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Lloyds.
I received a letter from dwp about getting a bank account because post office accounts will be stopping in future.
Applied online on May 8th, ( been at current address five years) received an email (giving me account number and sort code and a ref number) telling me to take two forms of id to the local branch, so on May 12th from the list on the email I took a council tax letter and a dwp letter, they told me the account would be open in a few days.
I contacted dwp with the form they sent out filled in with my acc number and sc.
After five working days no pin or card so rang Lloyds, they said the branch were wrong to say it would be open so soon in fact it would take nine days then plus five working days after that to process.
I contacted dwp and they put a stop on the switch over until it's sorted out.
The day after this I got a letter from LLoyds confirming receipt of documents but before they can activate account they require proof of id so I must return to branch.I rang Lloyds and they said the council tax letter didn't show the address clearly so take it back in again and told me they would also need a letter from dwp so i contacted dwp and had one sent out to me to take in.
On May 26th I got a txt from Lloyds 'take docs to branch in 12 days to complete application blah..' Took docs in on 26th.
On May 31st I got another same txt from Lloyds 'take docs to branch in 12 days blah..' So now I'm waiting until Weds 15th June by which time 9 + 5 working days since 26th May will be up.
Update:
Got another email and txt today 7th June saying 'take docs to branch in 12 days blah..' (for third time) before they can open the account.
Also, to add to the fun and frolics, the dwp sent me a letter saying they have paid my benefits this week into this Lloyds account that doesn't exist yet despite myself ringing them TWICE to tell them the account isn't open yet.Maybe I can use this as id...called dwp again and hopefully my benefits can be paid into po account this week.
Unsure what to do now as I rang Lloyds and did as I was asked yet they are still messing me around.
Update: rang Lloyds they told me to go back to the branch for a third time.
Was made an appointment for the next day at the branch, at the appointment I was told that none of the three different people who dealt with me had the clearance to give me an account including the first berk I spoke to who cheerfully told me my account would be open in a couple of days!I was at this new appointment told that the id i was supplying now was sufficient to open an account at last after over four weeks and four visits to the branch.
Today I got an email from Lloyds :
Dear Mr ******
Your Basic application has been cancelled
We're sorry to tell you that your application for a current account has now been cancelled. According to our records, we’ve been waiting for you to bring some proof of ID documents into one of our branches. As you haven't shown us these documents your application has now been cancelled.0 -

Once you get the letter you can take your ID and any documents they require into a branch and they will sort it out.
This is what I did when I opened my FlexPlus and FlexDirect account.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

Hello all, sorry but i could not find an appropriate thread to pose my questions. First question;I have just found my old National Savings Bank Account book which was opened by my mother in 1971 with only £3.79 so how do I go about closing this account or shall I just throw the book away? Second question: I have also found about £80 worth of premium bonds, so am I able to cash these in or not?
Thanks, AliMac630 -
co op[ will only allow you 1 basic bank account now, we always advised to open 2 or even 3 to help with budgeting.0
