Try Santander, as I got a basic account with them, and I have a CCJ0

Hello have you been able to resolve the issue? Am now facing the same problem though mine is with lloyds bank, they placed a CIFAS marker on my name and ever since i cant open an account with any bank except those credit accounts which i pay £10 monthly.
Any reason why they placed the CIFAS marker?Try Santander, as I got a basic account with them, and I have a CCJ
A CIFAS marker is a very different beast than a CCJ; in simple terms CIFAS is generally fraud whereas CCJ is credit worthiness. Easy to get an account with bad credit but not with a fraud marker.0 -
With credit cards there are all the online eligibility checkers to see what might be possible with different levels of bad credit.
Is there anything similar for bank accounts or is it simply a case that for example with a ccj you can not a standard account until 6 years have passed and then you are ok?I think....0 -

Lloyds.
I received a letter from dwp about getting a bank account because post office accounts will be stopping in future.
Applied online on May 8th, ( been at current address five years) received an email (giving me account number and sort code and a ref number) telling me to take two forms of id to the local branch, so on May 12th from the list on the email I took a council tax letter and a dwp letter, they told me the account would be open in a few days.
I contacted dwp with the form they sent out filled in with my acc number and sc.
After five working days no pin or card so rang Lloyds, they said the branch were wrong to say it would be open so soon in fact it would take nine days then plus five working days after that to process.
I contacted dwp and they put a stop on the switch over until it's sorted out.
The day after this I got a letter from LLoyds confirming receipt of documents but before they can activate account they require proof of id so I must return to branch.I rang Lloyds and they said the council tax letter didn't show the address clearly so take it back in again and told me they would also need a letter from dwp so i contacted dwp and had one sent out to me to take in.
On May 26th I got a txt from Lloyds 'take docs to branch in 12 days to complete application blah..' Took docs in on 26th.
On May 31st I got another same txt from Lloyds 'take docs to branch in 12 days blah..' So now I'm waiting until Weds 15th June by which time 9 + 5 working days since 26th May will be up.0 -
Lloyds are horrendous with customers wishing to have a basic account. Poor service, a pathetic looking debit card, no contactless debit card - which is shocking considering most banks offer contactless cards now, even on basic accounts. Since it split from TSB I really think its starting to lose its way. Great TV ads though.0

You don't like the look of the debit card, so it means that Lloyds are being horrendous with their customers? How more ridiculous can you get? Since when was the look of a debit card an indicator of good service? Anyway, the debit card on the basic account looks the same as the one on their standard Classic Account, although maybe a slightly lighter shade of green.

This is not true. Some banks do, some banks don't. About half of them do, which is not the same as most. See this other thread where this myth of most banks offering contactless cards on basic accounts is shattered:

Why do they not provide contactless cards. I have a Santander basic it is great, but no contactless card.0
