People who have quit are always the worse. You know your more likely to get cancer standing next to a BBQ for half an hour than sitting in a room with a smoker for 3 months?! Not banning BBQ's are we. Whos the whinger?!

That's a terrific argument for re-introducing smoking in public areas. Can you direct me to where you found evidence stating this please?

(Hadn't read full thread! Apologies for repeating MankySteve's point!)

He does go into the garden to smoke / the kids have never seen him smoke either.

It just he either smokes or dosen't to be honest i am not really bothered either way - I just dont want all this 'i only smoke at work nonsense....' and by 7pm he is shouting at the kids because he wants a fag....

Hmmm I may make him a 'smoking area' round the side of the house at least i will get rid of him for a bit of an evening ;)
Oh right sorry misunderstood well in that case definetly kick his butt out for the evening then.:D

If its an 'only at work' smoker that shouldn't be too bad as it'll be restricted to breaks and lunchtime.

Unless he is an outdoor worker.

I can't smoke on our premises or in any of the vehicles. Its gross misconduct if any employee does.

It isn't gross misconduct (well it is - but it's worse than that!) - there's legislation which prevents smoking in the workplace which includes any vehicle used for work. Your employers could get fined for allowing employees to smoke either on site or in a works van.

I always find it amusing to see smokers driving with the windows down so as not to pollute the inside of their cars...........

Do you think is okay to force your family to breathe in your smoke? do you think they should suffer because of your disgusting habit? Smoking was always banned in my home, my father would go out to smoke. No guests are allowed to smoke in our house, they are welcome to smoke at the balcony with the door closed. Yes, even in winter.

I had a Silesian girl once lock me on her balcony in the middle of winter in Bielefeld Westphalia in mid winter, luckily I had my big coat, all the houses supply of bottled beer (keeps it cold having it outside in a German Winter) and a tub of gherkins out there with me, she only let me back in when I was threatening to urinate over the balcony into the town square as the cold and beer started to take effect.
