smoking at work

Hubby's decided that after a 4 year break he is going to start smoking 'only at work' ......

He has been uping the amount of cigars & and the little cigars that look like cigarettes he has been smoking usally when he goes out with the lads/poker /fishing etc... and has been having a few at work.

I stopped smoking as soon as i found out we were pregnant he didn't..... despite promising he would in fact it took another 18mth for him to 'stop'

So not only do we have to factor in ectra expense... he says he smokes roll ups so its really cheap but he stinks not good with 3 kids ;(

We also have to put up with his horrid mood swings and constant 'i want a fag but i am not having one.... when he gets home :(
So they get the lovley stress free chap at work and his family get Mr. whingey pants... :(

He stopped smoking for 4 years and has just decided that he's going to start again?????

Is he insane, stupid or both?

Has he decided that he doesn't want to be a house-husband anymore?
  • I am a smoker, about 20 a day. I smoke outside the back door, never in the house and esp not if we had kids. I'd be kicking him outside in the freezing cold if he wanted a smoke.
Roll ups do smell worse, very strong too. I smoke them sometimes too.

Would he maybe try an electronic cigarette? They are actually quite good and you get the nicotine fix.

At the end of the day its his choice and sometimes life is too short to worry but I would ban smoking inside the house.

People who have quit are always the worse. You know your more likely to get cancer standing next to a BBQ for half an hour than sitting in a room with a smoker for 3 months?! Not banning BBQ's are we. Whos the whinger?!

Please elaborate. Is the house your inheritence or your hubby is your pet??

as an ex smoker i would also ban smoking in the house.
if he wants to take up smoking again then fine thats his choice, but its not however you or your kids choice to smell of smoke.

    is he stressed about anything?
my husband and i are both ex smokers and even now something stressfull makes you want one

Sounds like he never really gave up.

Anyway, he will probably resume full time smoking soon enough and then at least he won't be whinging so much at home. There is nothing you can do to stop someone smoking, they have to do it for themselves so the only thing you can do it insist he doesn't smoke indoors.

    Absolutely!

If he starts smoking again (even if it's only at work), what do you think he'll be doing when/if he becomes a house-husband?

Yep, he'll be smoking at home whilst you're out at work.

because you cant stop someone smoking if they want to, and it sounds like hes on the slippery slope into smoking all the time again, ie at home
