That is soooooooooooo lovely! Glad they, and you, had such a great time.

    xx

It was lovely Sandra, I teach my children manners, please, thank you etc, and this was the only time they have ever been spoken to by an SA in the same polite manner. Normally the SA's just ignore my kids and say nothing, they just do their job in silence.

Thumbs up to debenhams sales assistant.

3 future loyal customers in the making.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

And not only have you taught your children manners, you are also teaching them valuable financial skills for the future! I see 3 future MSE-ers, who will never be in debt! :)

  • I love it when shop assistants are nice to children. The ones in Cath Kidston are always lovely to my twelve year old. The one thing that's amazed me about this thread is how many people never normally shopped in debenham's. It's my favourite shop, and they have sales so often I hardly ever pay full price for anything!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I use Debenhams a lot as well, but to be honest I can't ever remember paying full price. I do take advantage of their "Blue Cross Sales" and we normally park our car right outside Debs at the Metro Centre and is our first port of call.
They can be expensive at "normal prices", but so can M&S etc.

I was nver taught to save as a child, so the slighest bot of cash burnt a hole in my poacket, with things the way there are at the moment, i dont ever want my kids to be in a situation where they have no idea how to manage moeny.

They normally put all their pocket money in there savings accounts so this was a real treat for them.

My DF wasnt to impressed, as he said it was teaching them that they could ''print their own money'' which reminded me of the time i went to the ice cream van with my pretend plastic coins, lol.

SO i had to explain to the kids that this was a one off and you cant print your own money.

I admire your sentiment but it hasn't really worked for me!!

i always thought I had brought my kids up to me savvy with money and they always were up until recently. My DD age 14 has just 'discovered' handbags and shoes and wants a designer handbag £270 for christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!(some chance!!!!)

My son 19 is just about to pay over the odds for tickets to a concert because "they are sold out and I want to go, so I have to pay it"

So on reflection it hasn't worked for me!!

Oh dear, Im not naive about it all thinking they will spend wisely, Im fully prepared for all of the above I have a 3 year old who already has an addiction to wanting new shoes and handbags.

I just hope I can teach them the value of money, and TBH if my kids have saved hard and worked hard for thier money and not frittered it away on anything rubbish, and they want a £300 handbag, then who am I to stop them, I'd rather it was £300 on a handbag and not £300 on drink or drugs.
