  • Just out of interest, I wonder how much it costs Boots (or M & S, or Asda, or Sainsburys or Tesco) to have a Jingle Bellsish 2 minute advert on during, say, X Factor.

Multiply that by 4 times a day/evening, for 2 weeks, and I reckon that would cost far more than Debenhams have "lost".

And the rumour that they would pull the voucher was just that, a rumour. Just to make sure that nobody misses out on the deal, they are now texting us, so whereas I said before that I'm not at all sure that this wasn't a great marketing ploy, instead of a mistake in the Ts & Cs, I'm now convinced!

I think you are dead right, look at the amount of people on here who never usually shop in Debs, but will do from now on.
There are over 1000 posts about it, just imagine how many people have read this and told others.
Cheap at half the price I think.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

I got the reminder email today to spend mine.......shame it is already spent!
  • Does anybody know what Debenham's return policy is on bracelets (Buckingham to be precise). I bought one for my mum but she doesn't seem too fond of it so I was wondering if I could change it.. surely it doesn't have any hygiene issues :S

I said sorry at the time, I was trying it out for others and had not thought it through. I removed my post as soon as it was pointed out. The post was not there for more than a few mins.

Oh, no! I wasn't talking about anything you said. I'm talking about what that newbie was suggesting about changing the URL to generate another code.

Totally agree. It has been marvellous. I love Debenhams.

I work within spitting distance of Debs, and for the last week or so we have had to roster lunchbreaks - usually most peeps stay on site, but just about everyone was happily printing off vouchers and trotting across to the store. There has been a very festive atmosphere at work, lots of very happy people discussing their "purchases" and how many goes is too many. Excellent marketing - early campaign marketing is about percentage footfall in store and brand awareness and I am guessing this exceeded all expectations.

You can't achieve profits without sales and you can't achieve in-store sales without footfall. Magic, and yes, again please ....

I finally got round to spending my vouchers today.

I gave 1 each to my 3 children,

DS aged 10 bought a technical wiggly worm thing for £5 so free.
DD1 bought a disney princess cup which was marked up at £5 but had 20% at the till so we had to grab a bag of chocolate coins. 80p
DD" was to young to choose, so we picked her a my little pony doll that was £15 reduced to £7.50 so paid £2.50.

My kids thought it was great and the guy at the till didnt bat an eyelid, he gave them each fantastic customer service, talking to them as though the were adult customers, asked them (not me) if they would like a bag etc etc, Said thank you for shopping with us today to them (not me) Its probably one of the best shopping experiences they have had.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!
    :T
  • That is soooooooooooo lovely! Glad they, and you, had such a great time.

    xx

Just got the following email from debenhams:

Multiple vouchers have been requested to this and similar email addresses using a known loophole within Google Mail. This contravenes the terms of our offer of one voucher per customer and therefore the unique voucher code that has been issued to this email address has been cancelled and will not be accepted for redemption in store. If you have any questions please contact 08445 61 61 61

    Regards,
    Debenhams

I had a voucher sent to a guerrillamail address as I never received the one which should have arrived in my usual inbox, not used it yet and am a bit scared now! Obviously as the address was only valid for an hour, it no longer exists to check if a similar message has been sent there.

If anyone manages to use a voucher they had via guerrillamail tomorrow then please report back!

    Thank you!
