I was done on the first half of the first lesson the first day....it was all over very quickly for me. So I didn't find it so bad...not to mention we were done right at the start of the year so didn't have to worry about books and marking them up to date! :D

It's my only experience of OFSTED so I don't think it's so bad. But the madness that surrounds it is ridiculous. I don't look forward to experiencing it again.

Hope you miss the ofsted too. I'm so relieved ours is now out of the way and I won't need to worry for a while!
I've just finished marking and annotating coursework too......the joy!!

GFH what is the deal with OFSTED?? Well its HMIE up here but DD1 nursery was done late last year and OMG the palava.. curriculum for excellece and such like.. confuses me.

Well there is always the potential that one will have an off day, get a crap grade for the lesson and suffer career blight. Also that the school will have an off week, and get a bad grade and suffer recruitment blight or worse.
I did work in a school once where the lead inspector was hit on the head with a (full) can of coke on the first day, and it wasn't an accident...
Ofsted - oh no. My last brush was they were in the week that i went back to work after mat leave for DS2 although the only saving grace was i wasn't teaching, but i was left alone even more to fend for myself as everyone was so busy. I hope it is just a viscious rumour on your behalf.

I hope its a viscous rumour too...oh well, like Gloria "I will survive";)

When I was HOD, years ago, I had an architect throw a massive hissy fit on the phone because I hadn't decided where some gas taps were to go, the Friday before ofsted.
I had to put the phone down on him and ask the head to get him off my back, people who don't get ofsted really don't comprehend the pressure, which is admittedly mostly in our own heads.

Well one cheerful DD this morning (another week off preschool) and one grumpy one (back to school). Only half a day to teach in effect, but I will try to kidnap at least one year 11 at lunchtime for coursework purposes. I have haribo, do you think that will help?!

Then a staff meeting where I think the full glory of the news will become clear.

jellie you can see I have been deeply mature and left the coursework until the last minute:eek:

  • Well a few little happy things today

    1. Got another bounty pack...worth about 50p but better than a poke in the eye.
    2. Health in pregnancy grant will be paid by Monday (£190).
    3. Next visit to MIL, SIL will be away, RESULT!
    4. I "passed" the various midwife health tests
    5. I've got Monday off for Grandma's funeral, might be unpaid leave though, which is a bit of a killer. eta not happy that its her funeral, happy that I've got the day off.

The bad news is tomorrow DH has to spend £400 on his car. The only man I know who could have his exhaust pipe fall off and not notice!

Some good news there! I did my marking at the last minute too. Worse, I didn't go into school to collect books to Mark as I planned due to the snow so I've returned to tons of marking to catch up!

    Are you back yet?

We went back yesterday. I have only 32 days including this one left before maternity leave, eek!

eta just found out the leave on Monday for the funeral is paid, so that's a relief. Couldn't not go, but couldn't really afford to lose the pay either.

I hate that sort of deision so glad you are getting paid. If OH needs time off because of bump its unpaid and it really is financial suicide.

  • Well exhausting day and have tied up some loose ends. Completely forgot to go to a meeting this morning since I still thought it was Tuesday, big OOPS.

Looks like I will evade ofsted this time, yay!

People at work are grumpy and knackered already, which is NOT a good sign, two days back. I'm expecting DH home with a £400 car fixing bill in the next half hour or so.

Managed to waste three eggs in a spectacular boiling water-pan-aga-scalded hand incident. The girls witnessed it but fortunately were near but not in the kitchen, it was a good opportunity to reinforce the point about them not racing around the kitchen when I'm cooking.

Mind on other things, I think.
