For the selling part they have had the searches done and the questions are still firing back and forth. The buying.. the searches have just come back so we are discussing these on Friday. There's a school being built over the road, it's far away from the house though so it won't affect us but it'll be interesting to see what comes up about it.

How long have you lived there? Is it your forever house?

  • We have been here 4 years, but in the area for 8. Yes I had to sign in blood to never move again.

I would like a bigger garden (but would need a gardener, can't keep up with the one I have) and a spare room (but would probably fill it with another baby) and a gravel drive and a paddock....in my dreams!

    Bigger house=bigger mess=more chores.

We live near a school, the only bugbear is incredibly inconsiderate parking.

Yes, I've read about your school parking dilemmas!

We shouldn't have that problem as the house is set back on a busy road and the school is a secondary school and will have a huge car park. I'd love to live where you live though. You are soooo lucky.( honestly you are ) Why couldn't my mum and dad have come from down sarf somewhere.

We desperately want a village life but now is not the time. The next house will be though. We may stay at the new one 10 years tops but I'm hoping more like 6/7.

You got it right then, timing-wise.

I just hope nursery will be enough for her until then, she likes a challenge!

Iris, how can you be thinking about moving again whilst still going through this house move! You're a braver woman than me!

I would love village life though especially if I lived in a barn conversion. 'Escape to the country' is one of my guilty pleasures.

You never know - the school may add value to your house due to its proximity, especially if it's a good one.

Us women need to plan our next move when we aren't in our dream house don't we! I just want a village life.

I do believe the school won't affect it's value at all. I think parents will get wise soon to sending their children to school on the bus and giving them lifts in the car and maybe move nearer to their chosen school. It costs 2 of the boys £17 a week just to get to school now...when we move they can walk!

You never know - apparently my parents' house went up quite a bit when they built a new secondary school half a mile away. It's a good school so being in the catchment adds quite a lot, but they're far enough away not to be bothered by the traffic.

One of the many things I love about my house is that it's within walking distance of a good secondary school. I'm still driving my kids to their primary school, but once they move on to secondary I'll be free of the school run. :j

  • A good school will def add value.

This morning I have walked dog, done some washing and bought winter boots for the girls in the sale, plus a T shirt and pacamac for baby T when he's older. Spent £50 on dog training course yesterday and £15 in M and S, so quite a spendy couple of days...but MIL's flat sale should exchange today - fingers crossed.

We have a thunderstorm here - don't worry cath the weather in Woolacombe is never the same as here - and I have to reclaim the house as DD2's reception teacher is coming to visit at 4.

    Next up, vacuuming everything.

  • Filled the dyson just doing sitting room and hall - ugh! Naughtily succumbed to tesco points boost and purchased 3 "cases" of wine...since when did a case stop being 12 bottles and start being 6?? Also sent off for free pashmina from the Torygraph - another Christmas pressie?

Need to dust now...wearing a zoo animals sun hat and hair everywhere since DD2 has nicked the rubber band that was holding it up. Good look!!!!

I love a good thunderstorm! It's clouded over here today and is a lot cooler but we've not had much rain at all this week.

Oh wine, i do miss it!
