  • And no more Daleks, they are being "rested"

The thing that stands out to me in this article is the "too scary for children" bit.

The DVDs have a 12 cert which I think is about right. DD1 is 8 and I won't let her watch it. So why are they letting their kids watch it and why do the bbc schedule it at 6pm some weeks? Mixed messages.

twinklie hope weekend is restful, I don't do standardisation until Sun, for both boards  got me dates wrong :o

Thanks for all the kitchen ideas...I didn't explain it well...

imagine a tennis court with the net dividing it into a 2/3 - 1/3 split it is not as big as a tennis court btw!!

the pantry and scullery at one end, the 1/3 end. The scullery is sink and prep area, fridge, dishwaher.

The chimney breast and aga are in the middle of the net, it will cost mega bucks to remove, I would want to reinstall the aga somewhere else if I took this out, as I don't have or want another cooker.

In the 2/3 part is the kitchen table, built in floor to ceiling cupboards, and the laundry room which is next to the back porch - so if one of these goes the other does too. Laundry and porch at far end of "tennis court".

    Does that make sense?

Removing laundry and porch means loads more light, but your comments have made me wonder if we should knock porch into laundry and have a separate utility room - porch is a gloomy narrow dumping ground basically.

    Item now has 30 watchers.

  • And I need more help...

I want to get my exam class flashdrives on a wristband with an "inspirational slogan" on

    Shamelessly plagiarising...do i go for

"work hard and be nice to people" simple and easy to understand, or

"work is play" bit more subtle ?????????????????????????????

I find the key to slogans is to begin by thinking very hard about precisely what message you want to get across. Articulate that in however many un-snappy words it takes. Then translate into something catchy. If you try to go straight for the slogan, then the message become secondary to the snappiness, and you end up saying something other than what you really wanted to communicate.

  • I really like work hard and be nice to people, i think it sums up a lot of what we have lost in the midst of all the self-help-wallowing-me-me-me culture. Its not mine, though, neither of them is.

OMG...you are my teaching idol now. I could NEVER find the time to do that. Admittedly though I am marking out of my comfort zone this year and I'm not really used to marking long answer questions either. I reckon I'd find it easier next year...she says. Ha ha.

I wouldn't have the patience for very long answers, my longest for GCSE and AS are 3-mark questions.
