Agreed, but they cannot really act like a proper bank, their " Faster Payments " are still restricted to £1000, as far as I am aware, I would not entrust my everyday banking to them.

Like, you I have savings with them, which I am now moving elsewhere.
  • I think since they started using Lucas and Walliams in their ads, Nationwide's policy has more become: "Computer says no".

My brother has an account with them with a passbook, but the local branch is closing down (as it's an agent). It seems that they make themselves different but they're changing for the worse now. Shame really.

    Dear flamingo4

How did you get 'Free travel insurance' with Lloyds TSB,

I am aware that they offer what is called Added Value Account to include insurance but to get this perks you still need to pay, like any other banks like shown in this link.

    http://www.lloydstsb.com/current_accounts/added_value_accounts.asp

Could you please share your knowledge, as I believe a lot of people who are banking with Lloyds TSB do not aware about this ?. Is there any links realted to this ?

    Thank You

I am in this league. But not now because I currently have Travel Insurance Coverage from My Co-operative Premier Privilege a/c which is free for a year. I will do this in a year time.

It's extremely short-sighted of Nationwide to remove the foreign currency benefit from all members rather than impose stricter conditions to qualify. When they complain about people not using it as their main account, they're also failing to take account of the fact that their flexaccount can have saving account attached to it - I wasn't using the current account, but had thousands in saving with them.

Anyway, if you really want "revenge" on Nationwide, closing the account won't do it, it's exactly what they want. The thing to do is cycle £750 through the account every month via faster payments to qualify for the free travel insurance without generating a penny of profit to offset it.
  • My talk of ditching Nationwide came round sooner rather than later it seems. All savings accounts closed and transferred away. Just £100 left in my Flexaccount to cover any direct debits that haven't yet switched and my cash reward credit card acting as a backup card from now on.

With all the "benefits" gone the existing £1000 faster payments limit was actually becoming a bigger issue as I needed my money elsewhere! Shame really, I actually liked Nationwide.

Unfortunately, they only offer new accounts to people living in their branch area.

The charges will be introduced in a week's time. Please go the extra step and punish Nationwide for its high-handed actions.

Actually, I wonder if will-in-estoril is a Nationwide plant, here to encourage their loss-making member to burger off.
