I've just had a baby so will need to try and find some new clothes as my body (hopefully) shrinks back to normal. In the past (when I started getting big in the pregnancy and needing clothes) I sold my skinny clothes and used that money to buy bigger things and yes it was all purchased on ebay when I did buy stuff and got loads of bargain

And I trust that the maternity stuff will be going back on Ebay any day now? I'm charity shopping for jeans this afternoon as the cheap ones I got in Peacocks are s**te quality. £12 a pair they were, BHF shop = £3-£4 for much better quality

We too are feeling the pinch and we now go to the car boot on sundays we have picked up loads of bargains some are even new jeans for £2 and so on, even jeans for 50p. We have stopped buying new and even buy 2nd hand furniture off ebay, there are lots of good quality 2nd hand items out there if you have the time and patience to look.Certainly not a good state of affairs and its all very depressing really, I was looking at a pair of jeans today in Primark £9 and I thought I really can't actually justify paying that, I only actually have 1 pair of jeans but still I thought that money could actually do something else, have you ever been in that situation?

I don't need to watch my pennies so much now, but I do want to pay off debts. Even so, I learned that two cheap items are not always as good as one item I really love. When my budget was very small, I preferred to hit the charity shops (even better if you can get to an affluent area) and get something better fitting or quality than Primark. Primark clothing isn't made to last and if you want something to last as long as you can because you have a limited budget for clothing it is not always the best choice. If you're an awkward size it is difficult, though.0

Oh thank god its not just me! I was in primark too and they had a lovely grey secretary style dress that fit lovely and was only £2 in the sale, I really needed it as I have to go to a meeting soon and really dont have anything to wear (trust me, I was there for 3(!) hours last night mix'n'matching everything I owned to look 'smart') and I just couldnt justify it. I left the shop feeling really down and daunted by the uphill 3 mile hike home pushing my 8month old in the pram because I cant afford the £2.65 bus fare...2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0

ah yes the government likes to talk in billions and quantitative easing and deficits and GDP but lets face it when it comes down to it we are all making these lovely choices..........shall I get food and forgo being able to put petrol in the car/go to work for the rest of the week for instance?
All the magazines tell you that you 'need this coat in your life' the 'must have wardrobe essential' and I myself stood over the Primark T-Shirt stand and decided that if I bought the £2 long sleeved black number that was as much of a wardrobe update as I am going to get!!Every Penny's a prisoner :T0 -
I got a bargain yesterday at a charity shop,
A Basler wool/cashmere coat, only £30 and looked as good as new, and clean. I saw a Boss leather jacket for £30 as well, but it was too big for my hubby!0 -
To be honest, I wouldn't pay £9 for a pair of Primark jeans even if I had the moeny. They never last and soon lose shape. I don't mind some of their stuff for the kids as they outgrow everything so fast anyway. I always either get a pair in a decent sale or off ebay.
I'm after a pair of cords for the winter and I'm going to pop to Sainsbury's for some today. I've found their jeans are really good quality and only cost £10, but I wait til they have their 25% off offers on and get them for £7.50. I wash and tumble dry them loads and they never lose colour or shape. I've had to go out and buy new jeans coz I've been dieting and lost 3 stone. It got to the stage where my jeans would start to fall down as I walked so I knew I just HAD to buy myself a pair - and I looked for the nicest ones I could buy for as little money as possible.
I think I'm getting to the stage where I do think before I buy something - do I really need that? and what else could that money pay for? Especially in the run up to xmas! It's much nicer to think, well that cash could go towards my son's xmas presents!0
