  • My guilty conscience shouts at me whatever I do... whether it be buying food or clothes (my winter coat was £18 from asda and I haven't bought one for 6 years) or agreeing to go out. I can't shut it up! Unfortunately if I did nothing and stayed in ALL the time I'd get seriously depressed... I just need to find the fine line in the middle!

I knew I was dead broke when I stood in a sale at Debenhams, holding a pair of shoes meant for my DD. It was £4.50 and I thought I couldn't spare that much. I felt so sad and put the shoes back. :(

£9 Primark jeans? That is a lot for Primark, New Look jeans are only £10 and much better quality.

I used to feel like I couldn't afford a £4 primark top! I've since been more flexible, still money saving, but I know how much things actually cost now and try not to buy cheap primark.
  • All the time:rotfl:!

I don't buy many ultra-cheap clothes anymore, as I realised that 'bargains' made up the bulk of the unworn clothes that I cleared out (and that's bargains as in cheap clothes bought at full price which weren't quite what I wanted and expensive clothes bought on sale, usually a size too small) when I started my DF journey.

Now I only buy what I actually need, and it has to be the right size, the right style etc, and no compromises on that just because it's 'cheap'... nothing is cheap if you never end up wearing it. Whereas I have a pair of £175 jeans, but I love them and have only one pair and probably wear them 50% of the time... in terms of wear, they were actually 'cheaper' than having a dozen pairs of £20 jeans which were never quite right and didn't get worn. They are now getting really worn out, but they have to last a few more months... I definitely got my money's worth out of them.:T

Yes I just have a core of nice wearable clothes, most designer but bought from ebay or my local second hand shop and if I want to change the look I just buy a new necklace or belt or something. Its that Gok thing. Buying cheap stuff from Primark might fill some sort of need but it sure isnt a style one.

You're better off spending your £9 on ebay your money will go further, I needed some new workwear and I've just bought a brand new Next trouser suit for £10.50 inc P&P and a 3 piece suit (jacket/trousers/skirt) secondhand for £9.57 inc P&P! Now they're bargains! :money:

  • I felt like I couldn't spare any money when I went shopping the other week. I've just had a baby so will need to try and find some new clothes as my body (hopefully) shrinks back to normal. In the past (when I started getting big in the pregnancy and needing clothes) I sold my skinny clothes and used that money to buy bigger things and yes it was all purchased on ebay when I did buy stuff and got loads of bargain :)
