  • Good morning,

Well done on the interview Birdie, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Any idea on the salary yet?

I can empathise about the trains Dinah, a couple of years ago I was using them to get to work and when they ran OK they were brilliant - took 10 minutes rather than the 45 the bus would take, and was half the price. But the amount of times we were left standing on the platform with not even an announcement to say the train had been cancelled was ridiculous. And with only one train every hour, and me in one of those inflexible jobs where you're only paid for the time you're actually clocked in, well, it was a nightmare. Don't blame you for repairing the car. Will you still get the train?

Tete I've been thinking about you, I hope you're ok. You sound like you're doing brilliantly, I so admire you! Good idea to treat yourself but not go mad. Are you carrying on with your sewing/baking or is that on hold at the moment? I'm after a fool-proof, moist banana cake recipe - anyone got any recommendations? I have tons of black bananas :o

Never tried a banana cake I'm afraid. I like the spotty dress best.

Thanks Zig. I seem to have relapsed this morning :( I was functioning OK yesterday but as soon as I woke up today my stomach was churning and I seem to have had tears in my eyes all morning :o Went to the house last night to pick some more stuff up (forgot the cats' scratchy pole and they were starting to look at my bedpost, flexing their claws...) He wasn't there which is probably for the best. It was horrible being in the house which should be my home though. Not doing any baking or sewing - all my stuff is still at the house and I just don't have the inclination anyway. I've got my crochet stuff but can't really bring myself to pick it up.

I've got a hair appointment for tomorrow evening as they couldn't fit me in on Saturday, which is a shame as I was hoping it would give me something to do. Everyone at work is stating to talk about the Christmas holidays and who's taking what extra time off around them :( I was going to but there's just no point now.

Oh I'm sorry, moan moan moan, I'm even getting sick of hearing myself! :o

Did you post 3 dresses Zig? I can see 2 and a red cross! I like #1 but I've seen this dress and heart it a lot and I'm just waiting for an opportunity to get it, would you consider it? They do it in black too, I just think it's so fun!

I thought of babies too when Dinah asked for suggestions! We're all clearly of One Mind!

Oh and a towel cake is pretty much what it sounds like, it looks like a 3-tiered cake but made out of rolled towels! Need some new towels anyway so I'm killing 2 birds with one stone!

ETA: Crossed posts! Sorry you're feeling low again Tete. Why not book in for a manicure or a facial or something on Saturday? A nice bit of pampering and it'll get you out for a while. Still no idea about the salary but I'm hoping they'll at least match what I'm on, work is a nightmare now and I just need to get out!

Also ETA!: I just realised I didn't reply to the question about the Bridezilla! I've not spoken to her since Monday, I don't think I'll be too chummy with her for a while. OH has told the groom that he's not going to do anything towards organising his stag do until after we're married because he wants to concentrate on us first... nice bit of solidarity! Had a couple of friends round on Tuesday for tea and had a good moan about her, the others were saying that they're getting annoyed with her too because she won't answer any questions about my Hen, they wanted to know if they're paying for me and she wouldn't reply so can only assume that the others are willing to pay for me but she isn't! I said I'd pay for myself because I'm not paying for her when it's her turn! Getting petty now, but she doesn't really give me much choice! I know she'll want to go out next weekend when OH is away on his Stag but I'm making an excuse and going out with other friends!

I love both of them too CMD! Decisions..
Oh I'm sorry, moan moan moan, I'm even getting sick of hearing myself! :o

Don't be sorry! We're all here to hear you moan/rant or do whatever you want. Honestly, don't be sorry. Do what you feel you need to do. I agree with Birdie, could you go and get a beauty treatment on Saturday? Make you feel a bit more alive? Will you be having another talk with him at all? Or has he made up his mind? Maybe you should take time off at Christmas anyway and spend time with family and friends? Got to be better than work! x

Nope, only two dresses so far! Anyone know any other places to find fifties dresses?! I love that dress Birdie! Where's it from? Good idea to turn something you need into a present! :D

The dress is from Amazon believe it or not. Another fab shop is Vivien of Holloway, I always look at that website and drool! One day I'm going to get a dress from there just to spin around in!

:kisses3: Thanks :o Birdie reminded me of the spa sale thing in the email but there's nothing nearby. I've emailed the college to see if they do massages or anything on a weekend but I doubt they will... If the weather's not to bad I might go for a walk, but I'm worried with my sense of direction I'll get lost without him there to lead the way :o Maybe I'll try a linear one close to home...

I'd like to talk again but it just turns messy. I've turned all patheyic but the little voice in my head is saying not to give up without a fight :o

I was going to mention Vivien of Holloway too, but in all honsety I think they're pretty overpriced and uninspiring... There's also Dolly Dagger but they're the same really...

I think your ex OH deserves to give you a proper reason about why it finished Tete. I don't think your getting the closure you need to get.

I'm not telling you to be bitter about him but he could have told you that certain things needed to be fixed and espeically before you moved ion together. He also just broke up with you right before Xmas so while I know you say he is a nice fella (and I bet he is), there are some things that he needs to be accountable for.

Hope this doesn't sound too harsh - I don't want to be but I think he needs to explain himself more.

I've been on the Vivien shop and the Dollydagger shop! They have some lovely dresses! But OH won't let me spend that much :D

You should listen to that little voice. I agree with CMD actually, he should have sat you down when he had doubts, not when he had sat on them for ages and made a decision. Although that's easy to say when you're not in the situation IYKWIM. You don't seem pathetic at all! I'd be a mess, you are being brilliant! Try the college, I've been looking at college beauty treatments - they're very cheap!

Argh I need to be doing uni work (a presentation on sustainable food ) but I'm looking at anything but...

  • I know CMD, the more I think about it the more anger is seeping in. There I was making plans for Christmas, buying baubles etc, and all the while he's thinking that - I feel so stupid. And yes I'm angry that he's just sort of dumped me giving me no choice in the matter and no chance to rectify things. Hmmmm.

The college only do massages on a Thursday at 1.15 apparently! Might book myself in for one at the uni next week - at least they have more of a choice and I won't have to take the whole afternoon off.

    How about Rockabilly Pinup?

What's your budget for the dress Zig?

CMD & Zig have good points Tete, did he say anything else other than that he'd been deluding himself with the marriage thing?

ETA: Crossed posts again! Don't feel stupid, it's his fault that the relationship went to pot and if he was incapable of voicing his doubts before letting it get to breaking point how were you to know that something was wrong?!

    Hi all,

Sorry to hear you're still so down Tete, believe me you will be for a while yet, you can't just get over someone that easily, although it would help give you closure to know the reasons - thing is, sometimes there just isn't an explanation. Hope you get some closure though soon.

Zigmeister, I've got a great banana bread recipe, will post it tonight unless anyone gets in there first. I'm naughty though and add chocolate chips to it - and mines always sticks to the tin (my fault), but it does work, honest!
