I love your grandad's logic Cinny!
Mine costs about £40 to fill now, it makes me sad as it was bought because it was super cheap to fill and run (used to be about £28)
I like Judas too but it does seem like a tainted name. Like Magdalene and Jezebel.
OK, I'm going to have to read that book!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I think I actually remember reading something by that Martin Lewis guy (anyone heard of him??) about saving money on fuel, and one of his tips was to only travel with half a tank because of weight. It must have some truth behind it as on the rare occasions I do have my car filled up it drops to halfway really quickly, then once it's under half it seems to last forever!!
I thought I'd post this link, to cheer people with speakers up on a Thursday! It's cats and dogs singing that 'Firefly' song.
Anyways, it is all nice and sunny so I just need to iron OH's shirt for his interview, then I can get out and start [STRIKE]killing[/STRIKE] gently tidying the front garden.0 -
Though now I might start using '"fireman" instead. Not that I use ralph or anything
LOL! :rotfl:
I've never heard of this Ralph thing either but it's definitely given me a giggle!Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »I really like Judas (Jude for short) but it's a bit like calling your kid Adolf isn't it?
I don't reckon so, I like the name. I reckon Noah is a lovely name though. I used to have a whole list of names I like but can't think of any now! There were a few I liked but now don't because they remind me of certain children I've taught. Not always in a bad way though!
Hope you feel less tired soon FlowerAnd Wendz I feel for you, toothache is awful
Petrol so annoys me! It seems to get used so quickly. Feels like you work to pay to get to work!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

I love how active the thread is regardless of the money stuff or not! Brief update here: business start up manic, taking over my life but loving it, FAR too much to sort out in the next 3 weeks, got a letter that the £500 grant will go into my account soon, no progress on house, personal money situation is in the background but ticking along.
Cinny I can honestly say you starting your own business is the best news I've heard all year. I'm absolutely over the moon for you. Most of all I'm so glad you've had the idea and had the confidence to carry it through as I know faith in yourself has been the main thing to hold you back in the past, and it shouldn't because you're a lovely girl who has some amazing talents. You've changed so much since you first started posting, I'm welling up at our little girl all grown up! Don't forget to ask your local council's business support service for any help they might be able to give, even if its £50 towards leaflets or £300 towards a printer and some equipment (have you got a steam mop - I WANT one! Hoover etc more obvious) it all helps and I found it really easy to apply for. Worth asking the question even if there isn't much money around.
Actually just as a twist - maybe you could also offer 'green' cleaning, using only natural non-chemical products, a lot of people with kids or allergies might be willing to pay a little more for that, or you might get the call above someone else if its an option? As an alternative for people, not as your whole service I mean. Just a thought
Also HM Revenue and Customs do good half day courses on how to do your tax return and what you can claim and what you can't, they're free and really, really good so I'd definately get yourself on one of them.
Which photo software do you use Cinny? I like the vintage grainy effect you've got (either that or you use a really low res camera!)
Your hen night sounds amazing Lara! I wish I had some hen nights/weddings this year to look forward to.
Re the Asda Cinny, it is always worth speaking your mind, once a planning application is submitted the committee of councillors will consider local opinion extremely strongly in deciding to allow something or not. If in a settlement of 1000 people 500 have written against it, thats a really clear indication of community feeling (as its never assumed that those who don't write automatically all are in favour. Its interesting how location plays such a huge part in supermarket approvals, in run down areas the community tend to be almost exclusively behind it for the job creation, but in the more affluent area there is a lot of 'well we'd like it, but put it somewhere else'. At any rate holding the meetings is a legally required part of applying for planning permission, they need to demonstrate community consultation and taking on board the feedback from it (often this means picking the one person who said 'can the prisioners make some decorative railings' and saying they've encorporated art after listening to the community!
I'm catching up in a quiet moment at work so the screen size is tiny, however I knew straight away that the Aldi post was yours Tete - only person who would worry about the grammar, and the loose association of 'shops'... I knew it had to be Billingham. Have you been to the new forum yet?
NIM how haven't we discussed this Aldi?! I don't know where that rumour is from but if there is a town centre location available then putting it on edge of centre or out of centre fails the sequential test and planning will therefore be refused, you know that! Money or profit is not a consideration in planning terms.
I can't believe all these tight friends people have! That pizza night takes the biscuit - it's only about £2 for a Tesco pizza - I'd just spend a tenner on those and while they wouldn't fit in all at once everyone can get a few slices of different ones.
Do any of you domestic goddesses have a good recipe for using up 2 pommegranates? Reduced in tescos in little bags and I thought they were passion fruits!
Congrats on the little boy Flower - hope you agree on a name soon. I keep having a recurrign dream where NIM and I have 3 little boys, I know all their names although even in the dream I can't pronounce the name of the youngest, but he turns eveil and turns into a pacman and tries to eat his big brothers...
I loved Judy Blume, I think I read everything of hers as a young teen.
Most guages aren't even in how they go down on the car, so the first half will always go quicker than the second half. There is a technical term for this. We can't really fill ours halfwayDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Managed to venture out in the rain this morning to the sensory/music class with Poppy and she seemed to like it. Got to take her for her check up this afternoon and first jabs eek.
