The Ultimate Incentive to get debt free… again. Dinah & NIM go head to head!

Fingers crossed for NIM!
Personally I would start trying anyway as you can never predict what happens. If you do get pregnant and have problems and can't travel then I am sure the fact that you are having a baby would make up for missing the wedding. If it does take a bit longer then you haven't wasted any time. It took us a year although I am sure we were just unlucky with our timings!0 -
I'm hoping to start making my holiday and wedding scrapbooks soon, now we've been paid I can actually afford to pay to get the photos printed so I can make a start! Although I need to buy albums, and card, and embellishments... argh!
Wendz, I think it's a lovely idea to have photos of you when you were pregnant for your girl to look at when she's older. My Mum hasn't got any big bellied photos of herself with either child, would have been nice to see! I would have been tempted to have a photo by myself so there wouldn't be the skinny man to make me look even bigger though! :rotfl:
Honestly re: the baby plan Dinah... I'd start trying now/soon. Although you want to be there for your cousin you can't put your life on hold for one day... given your health problems you could be put on bed rest after just a few months like our poor Flower (how are you doing now?!) so you might not be able to make it even if you're not heavily pregnant. You can't time when you will get pregnant, it could happen first time you try or it could take a year so realistically to make sure that you would definitely be able to make the wedding you'd have to wait until after next Sept. to start trying just in case, which is a long time.
I hope NIM's interview goes well, although yikes to the commute! Hope it's a big pay rise!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
If it isn't a big pay rise he's not taking it and thats the end of it! Be nice if it was though.
It seems such a big decision to try for a baby - it's a lot easier to say 'in a year' because that seems far away (and not concrete so I can keep up the whole' I'm not an adult yet' thing I have in my head even though at this point I'd be at least 27 when we have our first!). I'm kind of thinking the same as you Birdie, we can't put our life on hold for one day as much as I want to be there. But we can't afford for me to go on maternity with the debt as it is, so couldn't start trying now even if I wasn't so terrified! Also there's no way I'm missing New York in September!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Thanks for the link Lara, glad your research is going ok. Those people you're with sound horrible though! Is the sitution any better now?
Glad you're ok too Wendz after your fall! I can't wait to hear what you call your little girlSame for Flower and CMD too, I love hearing baby names!
I get very broody at times, but I babysat the baby brother for the day a few weeks back and I did think that I definitely want a year or so with OH on our own, I never realised how time consuming they are - and he's an excellent baby! I love going through names though. But all the ones I like, OH hates.
Re the baby plans Dinah, I say go for it as soon as you feel comfortable. I personally wouldn't try right away as you're in the middle of doing your house, and if you did get pregnant straight away and were bedbound it'd be a hassle. But as soon as the end is in sight I'd start trying.
Good luck NIM for the interview! That is a hideous commute though..Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Belle is a lovely name, so pretty
Dinah - I would try for a baby when you feel ready. There is always going to be an occasion or something turning up. I tried for Max and knew there was a chance that it would be close to my sisters wedding but luckily I had him 3 months before as I fell pregnant quite quickly. This time round it was a case of too many Coronas on Boxing Day. Lol!!! The thing about babies is you never know how quickly/slowly it will take so don't put off on trying for one!
Good luck to NIM with the interview
We got some promising news yesterday. A job in OH's sector has come up in Ireland and he has put in his CV. I am trying not to get my hopes up too much, as there could be loads of people in for it but they are looking for someone to start in June/July. We did the financial figures (based on what we think he would get offered) and it looks like we would be much better off in Ireland and I could be a SAHM ifI wanted to be (and still save money for a house deposit!).
We could sell our Edinburgh flat and have a deposot straight away but we are tied into the mortgage until 2013 and I would hate to pay the redemption fee. I don't think the housing market in Ireland has hit rock bottom yet anyway, and we want to live in a popular town so it would be worthwhile renting a house I think first.
Look at me getting ahead of myself. I would just love to be living at home near all my family and friends though.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

That's great news CMD, I really hope he gets it. You'll have to keep chatting to us even when you're back in euroland!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Course I will. I love this site!!! And still have plenty of debt to pay off. Anyway, he hasn't even been called for an interview yet but it would be so good if he gets it and we can finally settle at our final destination.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Ooooh that would be lovely CMD! I've got my fingers well and truly crossed for your OH!
LOL @ the too many Coronas on Boxing Day! You might want to keep that story to yourselves! :rotfl:
Totally understand not wanting to miss out on NY Dinah, that's why I've been telling everyone that we're not even thinking about trying this year as I don't want Florida to be ruined because I can't go on the rides or drink cocktails or eat whatever I want to eat!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I know TMI Birdie!!! To be fair most of my friends have accidental 2nd babies. I think you get complacent and don't mind if it happens!
There defo won't be an accidental 3rd though!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I can imagine CMD... although oddly when I was growing up about 70% of my friends with older siblings had them in the same year as my brother, which makes them 4 years older. All of our parents must have gotten so excited at sending the first kid to school that 'things' happened and they found themselves with another!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
