Nope still haven't been paid for the car Tink. We'll get it when they sell mums old one (not yet in the paper!) or dad gets his redundancy (end of May), whichever is sooner.

I didn't know your Dad was being made redundant Dinah. Is this a good or bad thing?

My Dad is dying to be made redundant so he can retire early!

He took voluntary as it was likely in a year he'd be made to take compulsary anyway, and the difference in payout was huge - £36k now versus about £18k next year. So he's hoping to go self employed doing funding and grant bids for museums, lottery bids etc.

He's very pleased to be out the council but the money is a worry.

I hope the bids work out for him. That would be wonderful as he would have the payout as well.

Payout should last him a year anyway, so hopefully if the self employment isn't working out he'll find something else in that time.

Looks like we might be booking France in the next few days, mum has found a villa in the Pyrenees which has a private pool, gardens etc, £1000 a week but as there is 7 of us that'll be £571 for 2 weeks away for NIM and I - which I think is a good deal!

Lol Ireland is in June for us I think - real jetsetters this year. Only going for the weekend though, and hopefully another weekend October time. France is the first two weeks of August. Booking Ibiza this weekend - it's stopped rising in price... now I just have to will it to drop again!

Your dead right. Enjoy all the hols before the babies come along. That'ws what we did and now I don't mind as much going on package deals for a few years when the babies are a littel bit older. It will all be kids clubs and early dinners for us for the forseeable!

We are getting to go to a lovely hotel in Ireland in June and I am getting back to Dublin for a girlie weekend in May so can't complain. Just not much sun for us this year!

NIM will testify if I go too long without sun I get depressed and snappy, which is my arguement for calling it an essential! We were planning to go to Japan before having babies, but by the looks of it that could be out for a few years now while they rebuild.
