Hope you and your family are ok its so sad :( I bet the medics are doing everything they can to make her comfortable and I hope your grandpas dealing with it ok! My grandparents are a definite unit and when one gets ill the other gets really down :(
  • (((((( Dinah ))))))))) and to your clan too. It sounds like a dreadful time for you and I think you'll just have to keep going as much as you can for now. It sounds like your gran isn't in pain though which is one huge thing. I'm so sorry for you and your family. No matter how quick or expected or how old someone is, it's still too soon to lose them or be faced with that eventuality.
Don't forget to lean on NIM. Sometimes we focus so hard on keeping everyone ok that we forget that other people need to feel needed from time to time and to see us be less than superhuman. And everyone here is here for you too.
I shall light a candle for you tonight to lend strength and comfort to you and yours, so that regardless of what happens you all are there for each other. May the stars smile on you and the Gods hold you close. xXx

Ha you'll embarrass me! No, I just write out loud if that makes sense? Plus for me if you're sending thoughts and comfort I try to be as specific as I can so the good thoughts get to the right place :)

Thank you everyone for your kind words, and I really appreciate it that some of you have put her in your prayers, means a lot to me. She's hanging in there at the moment, still unconcious but no change, not going downhill as expected, doctors said she wouldn't be able to swallow and she can, and today she opened her eyes, its all odd and confusing and I hope she only wakes up if shes not so brain damaged she's like a baby. You sort of don't know what to want anymore. NIMs dad called about 20mins ago (clocks have little meaning to him) and I jumped at the phone ringing as I assumed it meant bad news.

Sold the alfa to a lady from Wales, sold for £1040, which is reasonable, and its a big chunk off the credit card when she pays. I also relisted some bits on the free listing weekend, but my head hasn't been very money focussed these last few days obviously. Had two of my friends over last night (been planned ages, and I'd rather be around people than alone right now), I spent 10 hours making a 14 dish tapas dinner because it kept me very distracted and calmed me a bit as I didn't have time to dwell.

House is looking the best it has since we got it. Every room is tidy except the study which has 3 big boxes of filing to do. Even the conservatory is set up as our dining room now. In my whole keeping busy and distracted vein I randomly decided to gloss the boards on the ceiling on Friday, and then paint the exposted brickwork in white emulsion. Looks a lot brighter and cleaner but as I did it in the dark its a bit of a smudgy mess in places!

Reading 'Council of Dads' at the minute, had it on the to read pile for years but always seemed to gloomy, but now I'm actually hoping it will provide me with some perspective. This guy is in his 30s with 2 young daughters he may never see grow up, my gran lived a long life and she was quite unaware of things in the last few years, and she doesn't seem to be in pain now, I'm trying to recognise blessings where I see them.

Keep meaning to call HSBC, impressively I've had someone elses credit card details on my screen every time I log on for nearly a week now. You can see her transaction history, card number, name, everything!
