How about a baking dilemma for you?
I'm off to the Lakes next week with the girls, there are four of us and we're there for four nights so we're doing Come Dine With Me. I need something quick and easy for dessert - something along the lines of a chocolate mousse - but they all contain raw eggs and one of the girls is pregnant ... any ideas???

I would LOVE to do a CDWM thing! How exciting! What are you making? Hmm, dessert ideas.. tiramisu? An assembly job then it'll sit til you want it. Plus it's lovely, if you like coffee. Or, banoffee pie? Or what about this - it's called St Emilion au chocolat and it's really good if you like chocolate and booze! Ah, just remembered your friend is pregnant! Can you get away with booze in puddings like CMD did? It says 100ml of brandy but when my Dad did it he halved that amount and it was still pretty strong so you could get away with much less.

I've got my fingers crossed for you too NIM :) and I've replied on your thread CMD.

Tete, Nigella does an 'instant' chocolate mousse that doesn't use eggs. Can't get on her site right now to give you the link, but I know it's on there, saw it last week! She uses marshmallows and double cream for the fluffiness, it's nice but quite stodgy so only little cups are necessary! Halve the recipe too because it makes loads! My Mum's friend does another alternative in which she bascially gets a jar of Nutella, a carton of double cream (she also adds brandy but not a necessity) and whisks it all together and it's lush!

I love the idea of CDWM! Think you should set up a camera in one of the rooms so you can record your comments and scores and watch them all back on the last night, would be really funny!

Yeah I'm about six foot - don't you find they always put really STUPID thngs in the tall sections? Like vests, and shorts, and horrible harem pants? When what you really want is a maxi dress, a nice pair of black trousers for work and a winter coat with sleeves that cover your wrists!!! (*steps off soapbox*)

Try ASOS. Everything is made for giants. I had one of their own brand maxi dresses in summer and even in 4" wedges it was still at least half a foot longer than me!
Well I've had my two-penneth (however you spell it) CMD!

    Fingers crossed for you NIM!

    Oooh another Dinah diary
I remember you starting the very first one :)

    <subcribes>

    Today's the first day isn't it ?

BTW I work from home so if I do move the job moves with me. There's a few in Up Your Income -(I found mine on here three years ago) Money isn't great but when you add in no work clothes, fares, lunches out , birthday collections etc etc it isn't too bad. I get regular bonuses and discount off my TV services too. I use all those hours saved waiting for buses mystery shopping instead ;)

FOR GODS SAKE WHY CAN'T YOU MULTIPOST OVER MORE THAN ONE PAGE?!

Hi Tasha. Welcome to the thread, hopefully we can all beat the debt together.

And I've forgotten anyone else I multiquoted. I'm tempted to send a shirty email to MSE webbys.

I know someone commented it's good to see me debt busting again - and wierdly it feels good. Even logging on today seeing 3 pages of chat since last night, it's like the good old days again!

Ooh Birdie I've found it! Thanks - I think that's what I'll use, I wanted to do Chocolate Mousse in the first place. Thanks Zig for all the alcohol filled suggestions!! I'm wanting to do a pasta sauce with wine in though for the main so don't want to go overboard on her!

    EDIT -
FOR GODS SAKE WHY CAN'T YOU MULTIPOST OVER MORE THAN ONE PAGE?!

I noticed this a while back, but don't think it's a page thing, I think it limits you to 3 quotes now?

And, I'll try ASOS. Everyone at work raves about them and moans about how much money they end up spending there but I've never really been a fan... Maybe I haven't looked hard enough!

Ha, I don't even like alcohol that much! Anyone been watching Nigella or Jamie on tv?

  • I was watching Nigella the other night and put on my facebook that she seemed a bit tipsy, to which my best friend responded that her husband reckons she's always using love eggs! I think he might have a point! :D

LOL, as long as she doesn't get them mixed up when she's baking!

I want to get her Christmas book from a couple of years ago, had a look through the other day in Waterstones (where I only go to look, never buy!) and it's full of lovely looking things but the cheapest I can find it is £15, I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a book! I know I'll probably give in and buy it in the next couple of weeks, but it's annoying!
