River Island refusing to refund even with a receipt!

I have spoken to RI this morning - customer services - and explained what happened.
They said that their manager should not have treated me in that manner. That I shouldn't have the original receipt - I think they are meant to have that - or that something went wrong somewhere. Anyway, that is not RI policy.
And they are going to investigate the manager re. her behaviour towards me.
I am going to be given a full refund, apology etc. and I think a goodwill gesture too. I don't have to go back into the shop, I can send the cardigan to them instead FOC. They said that the goods were not fit for purpose because it didn't fit right.
Thank you to the genuinely helpful people like Pound etc. who did give me some good advice.0 -

It is used, she has worn it so it's not brand new is it????????? If the arms are too snug she may've stretched them anyway.
ANYWAY, she said ebay is too much hassle (like all the fuss and bother with the shop and writing to head office isn't?) and she'll probably wear it anyway! SO why all the fuss in the first place? It's obviously not too uncomfortable to wear.
GET OVER YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND ONE FOR LUCK!:rotfl:

Shows that they have absolutely no clue about what they were talking about. Good luck with getting your refund!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

Good luck i n getting your refund or exchange or whatever just as a warning to you in future no one is bullying you but if you start saying things like poorly educated and tend to swear a lot type people are confrontational then you are bound to get unhappy people I myself did no get any schooling due to personal reasons which i am not going to spell out on here and i go to shops and if they say no they have a right if you are not happy with that you need to take it further but with how things are now you have to accept that they have a decision to say no would you buy something like underwear try it on at the shop think mmmm maybe doesn't fit right maybe will try it at home then try to take it back that would defiently be a no to the shop.
Now i am not going to start saying anything else other than try no to insult people otherwise you will get comments like this again. People have real reasons on why they may not be educated and this doesn't mean they all swear or get aggressive or anything like that because you sound like the opposite of what you claim to be so how about if we start saying that all highly strung people like you are all confrontational its a bit unfair isn't it?***wishes people would give advice required on these boards rather than just being mean to everyone ****0 -
Er... I'm not confrontational or highly strung - that is not how I live my life. And uneducated people can be argumentative because they struggle to communicate effectively - haven't you seen Jeremy Kyle? I'm not saying that is wrong, that is how some people are, but I am not like that and my point was that I didn't go into that shop and "confront" the shop assistant/branch manager in an aggressive manner. She was aggressive with me. I was there, you was not.
If you have a chip on your shoulder this isn't the place to bring it.
And I don't kiss butt and I don't accept bullying behaviour, that doesn't make me confrontational!0 -
I might also add that I have a kid with special needs so I fully understand the issues regarding dyslexia, autism, ADHD, dyspraxia etc. And I don't make "judgements" unlike Gordikin who was berating another poster on another thread about his poor grammar and spelling!0

Muffin maker you are confirming your ignorance with every post

Blimey! More than an average MSE share of nutters on this thread.

What an enjoyable read this thread has been. Passed a few minutes while having an afternoon cuppa.
It is of a common type.
Poster comes on and is aggrieved and being mistreated and abused of their rights by a company in some way.
Replies from many and varied point out that the rights the OP thinks they may have do not in fact exist.
OP starts to get a bit defensive saying they have never heard the like in all their life.
Posters explain that just because the OP not encountered something it does not make it less true.
OP then starts to get shirty, complaining of foul play and being ganged up on by everyone.
Posters once again point out the error of the OP's ways.
Troll appears to back up the OP, all the while ignoring any salient points.
OP has miraculous visit/call from evil company who agree with everything the OP states and will have several of their employees taken out and flogged. Plus a bunch of flowers/bottle of wine/meal for two/holiday of a lifetime, will be offered as some means of recompense.
EDIT - We have a winner!!! The "special needs child" card has been played.
