Have restarted PC, and after several attemps have installed cd rom for printer. However, I just can't get the CD rom to install for the USB connector to the router.
Does anyone know if I can download the software elsewhere?
The USB adaptor is made by Digital Dream?0 -
When I click on properties of disk, it shows 0 Bytes?
Is there a possibility that when I originally installed this CD Rom, it somehow managed to wipe itself clean?0 -
it probably the free space of the disk, if the cd was a cd-r it cant be erased0

Hi, following re-installation of windows ME, I still can't re-load the software which came with the ethernet/usb adaptor, meaning I can't go on-line, unless I directly re-attach my modem but, I would still like to move the PC away from the modem to make it completely wireless.
I can access my router settings on my laptop & know my encryption key details.
If I purchase a wireless adaptor, attach to my PC, should I be able to connect wirelessly with the router (The router was originally set up on the PC before Smart restore)
Also, there apears to be 2 different types of adaptor, a USB one which looks very simple, or, a card which is fitted inside my PC (Don't really want to do this), Is there a significant difference between the 2?
NB I do seem to get an excellent signal from my router on my laptop wherever I am in the house.

both adapters will need drivers
i dont know if this is possible, but try copying the driver disk to a usb key (via laptop) and see if that works0 -

Thanks Gaming Guy
Have purchased Linksys Wireless G USB adaptor, inserted the cd rom, after 5 attempts, the cd ran, went through all the set up re wep/ssid etc, then after installing 25%, I get a blue screen telling me there is no disc!
Have tried subsequently to rerun the disc without success
As you mentioned in your above quote, if I run the disc on the laptop, could I somehow transfer the files accross to the PC via USB? If so, how do I do this?
Thanks

try creating a directory on the PC, and copying the CD into the directory, then run the install from there.
you may have a faulty CD drive..check that the leads are in firmly, (after turning it off at the mains).
do you have a usb flash drive?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks all,
After many times of re-loading the software, finally managed to complete installation of the Linksys USB
(I think the CD rom must be faulty)
All up & running - wirelessly!0
