That's so unfair on Asda! I suspect it was ill and they were cryogenically preserving it in order to cure it in the future.

I don't understand why you would need your money back-you didn't throw the bag of sweetcorn away surely - just picked out the caterpillar and carried on cooking?

Really? To my mind I would totally chuck the whole bag out as it has clearly failed QC procedures.

Well, I grow loads of veg myself and am aware that insects exist and sometimes find themselves the other side of the quality control process [which in my kitchen is the right hand side of the sink rather than the left]. So yes, really!

Although I'd never actually buy frozen sweetcorn...
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • I grow a lot of my own veg but i haven't quite mastered the knack of growing sweetcorn in the colder months.

My partner will only eat peas, sweetcorn and spuds so buy frozen for him while my children and i enjoy the fresh veggies that we grow.

I did throw away the sweetcorn that i was going to use but have kept the rest of it and the little critter to take back to the store which i will be claiming my money back for as i can't just afford to throw food away as i'm sure most of yu can't being members of a money site?

No - it won't grow in the colder months. It's much cheaper to eat seasonally, so once it's gone, it's gone [or preserved in some way].

As said, I personally wouldn't throw it all out, just the critter and then I'd get on with the rest of my life. Not because I'm moneysaving, just because, what's the point?

while insects do exsist the supplier is likely to have chlorianted flume which should remove insects like this.
Asda will come done hard on the supplier for this and are likely to charge the supplier for the complaint and be monitoring how many insect complaints they have had over the last month/years.
Companies spend a lot of money investing in this technology to remove insects.

while your moaning about insect if it had been a slug in a sandwich. Slugs carry e.coli and this would be eaten with out cooking. So while a caterpillar in sweetcorn is not ideal there are other times when not as good.
