I want to cancel the virgin deal I signed up to yesterday. I haven't been able to find out if I can cancel under distance selling regs or anything. On Virgin site it says:
10.2 Your right to cancel: You may end this Agreement immediately in the following circumstances:
(a) if we break this Agreement in any material way and do not put it right within seven days of you asking us to;
(b) if all of the Services are permanently no longer available to you;
(c) if you do not accept any change that we notify you about in accordance with clause 5.3 and you notify us in accordance with clause 5.4 that you do not accept such change.
There doesn't seem to be any cooling off period. Is that right? Thankfully it is only a 30 day contract, so if I phone them today and ask to cancel, before I get the SIM, hopefully I will be able to switch to a better tariff next month.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I just spoke to Virgin Mobile. They said that I can cancel no problem as soon as I receive the SIM. I just phone them, give the number and they will cancel for me.
Do you think I am safe enough to go for another deal now? I have only a wee bit of credit left on my phone and I know it would take another few days to get started?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I think for now I will just go with the Tesco deal for £6 monthly giving 100 mins and unlimited texts. When I used a booster before and got 100 min and 400 texts for £10 I didn't even use them all in a month, so I suppose there is no use going for a £10 deal if it gives me more. May as well get the cheaper deal. Then, if we decide to get rid of our landline and go for internet too, we can do that within the next few months.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I already signed up for the Virgin deal of £10 for 200 mins and unlimited texts but that Tesco deal looks very good. I hadn't seen it anywhere, so thank you. I was sitting here kicking myself once I read your post, until I realised that I am only tied in for the 30 days. Phew!!!! I was tempted by the 12 month one, so glad I was cautious!
A tip.
Virgin mobile are very good at improving your deal as soon as you phone up to notify your intention to cancel.
For example they offered me unlimited calls to landlines, which I immediately accepted. Try tasking for that.0 -
When I phoned them, they wouldn't offer me anything more, the guy just tried to tell me that all the 'better' deals that are out there, are not really better. That you only get a better deal with 12 month contract, and that Virgin are giving the best deal. Thankfully, because of all the wonderful MSE'ers out there, I knew better than that.
My dh wants us to lose our landline and go with a deal that gives internet too, so we can use the phone with the laptop, rather than pay for broadband. We use the PC quite a bit, for MSE, eBay, watching iPlayer etc. Would we be able to do that? Or does a fair usage policy just cover you if you check emails etc on a phone? How much allowance would we need?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I have just gone now for the Tesco £6 per month for 100 minutes and unlimited texts as this is perfect for my needs. As I get Clubcard points too, that makes it even better. Using those for deals would give me £64.80 per year, so That's ok too!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Just an aside here. I have a Samsung phone which i bought second hand and it has been unlocked so that I could use it with my t-mobile Sim. I think it was originally Orange. Will I need to unlock it again? Or is it only once you need to do it? And is it easy to get a PAC code from t-mobile if I want to keep my number?Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Got my PAC code from T-mobile, and didn't even have to pay to do it. I found a free number on saynoto0870 and got them to put me through. They are a laugh. The guy on the line expressed shock that I didn't want to use my 60 free minutes a month for the next 3 months with t-mobile. I told him that I had never been told that I was entitled to anything like that, so how could I take advantage of it? It wasn't enough to keep me anyway, as the tesco deal is still much better for me.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

No, now that it is unlocked you will be fine.0 -

I cannot find this deal on their website.
I have a desire phone, used to only spend £10 a month on PAYG (calls +text presmartphone) and want to continue to spend no more than that. I have wifi at home so will use that more oftern, but still might want to use skype occationally and emails/ browsing on the go.
Any advice would be great.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740
