I'd love a cheap deal, but don't need a phone....what do I do?
Options
Feel free to move this if the answer is somewhere that I couldn't find.
I currently have PAYG with t-mobile. I have my own phone which I love, and usually top up around £10 per month. I mainly text, as each text costs me 3p, and it is a huuuge 40p/min to call. I only ever call for maybe 1 min in an emergency. I have literally done this maybe 3 times in the last few years.
As most of my friends now have only mobiles rather than landlines, I would like to get a deal that would give me minutes and texts but around £10 per month if anything would be around at that level. I was able to have a talk+text booster before which gave me 400 texts and 100 min over 30 days, and that was perfect for me.
All the deals I can find are to get new mobile phones with a contract. Is there anything around for someone like me?

Yes, look at sim only deals. Most of them are on 30 day rolling contracts so you can switch between networks as you wish.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

There are plenty of sim only deals out there, as with all deals the longer you sign up for the cheaper they are.
O2 Voda and Virgin will all do a sim only deal for a tenner with lots of texts and 100 minutes a month on a 30 day contract.
Expect more minutes for a longer contracts.

I just had a look and there is a lot out there.... I just didn't know where to look. I have about £1 credit left on my phone, so I will use that up before I get a new one.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

If you are on T mobile and are happy with the service, pop into one of the shops. They will be more than happy to help you. you can transfer your number very easily.
As with all mobile phone sales folk, don't let them talk you into spending more than you want, and don't sign up for a long contract unless it is right for you.
EDIT:
T mobile will sell you a £10 sim only deal, on a 30 day contract, with 100 minutes and 100 texts. The free flexible booster add on will give you unlimited texts each month.

Virgin do a fantastic 30 day rolling sim, 200 minutes and unlimited texts for £10 a month. You can keep your number by requesting a PAC number from your current provider and then giving it to the new network. The process takes around 2-3 working days so don't use up any credit yet.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

I looked at the t-mobile deal, but on all the small print it says that the deal will the flexible booster etc is only for new customers. The Virgin one sounds good too. Actually, it sounds better as it is a rolling 30 day contract rather than a 12 month.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I think the virgin is better for me as it gives 200 mins and unlimited texts. And if I can keep my number, even better.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
