Are you going to open new account at new bank because I think that HSBC have made up their mind that they are going to close the account.
The LLoyds TSB cash account is good for people with poor credit and the debit card is accepted everywhere like HSBC.
The only downside is you can only use LLoyds TSB cash machines.0 -
Hi Paris I am not done yet letter to their account review team sent reecorded delivery and also an email sent to their complaints team to disclose the true reason for the closure. Then SAR then FOB just doing it now to inflict as much pain and annoyance now I think like you that it is over. Didnt think about Lloyds quite a few people have said Citibank is a good option for a Debit Card. But I might pop into my Local Llyods not too bothered about withdrawing cash as with Online banking and normal money transfers take minutes not days nowadays into my Halifax account0

Thanks Paris really appreciate your help if I go into the branch it maybe quicker etc and I know previously that I have had to send of docs before which can be a nightmare. Hi Emz thanks for your post however if they have made a mistake or used the wrong information which is the only thing I can suggest then I should be able to redress or advise ! My main issue is that they havent told me what I have done wrong. A Nice stinky letter in the post to their accounts team and another one waiting with a £10 PO with an SAR. I think you are probably right that they have decided to close my account and there will probably be nothing I can do but if thats the case I am sure not going to make it easy. My SAR relates to 10 accounts which I have held or do hold with them from CC to loans savings etc. I am sure that it will cost them alot of time in labour0

If you are on the electrol roll then LLoyds will not ask you to send in any id. If they accept you then they will send the card very quickly its silver like HSBC but the HSBC one is nicer.0 -
I was in the same situation with HSBC about 2 years ago. Had a current account with them for about 10 years, it was always a 'second' bank account with one monthly direct debit on it. Anyway they wrote to me saying they were closing the account due to lack of use, I wasn't too bothered as it wasn't used very much and only ever had the £25 in it each month to cover the direct debit. Anyway 2 years later it's still open as they never actually closed it!
Turned out to be quite useful as in the last year I've had my salary paid into it and used it as my main account, however I'll be moving to another bank as they've 'reviewed' and cancelled my £300 overdraft. I've never exceeded it and the most I've gone into it is by £200 a few times which has always been repaid by my salary within a few days.0 -
Dear tazdevil
HSBC current a/c now requires monthly payment of at least £500.00. They changed last year. Otherwise the customer need to take advance a/c (pay monthly fee) option or premier a/c option (need a lot sum of saving at HSBC).
I have been informed about this when I downgraded my Advance current a/c to normal bank a/c.
