Shoddy Sky Installs

I have often stated on here the shoddy work Sky undertake on peoples property's and thought I may back that up with some hard evidence:
I might update when I come across them, just because it makes me laugh, and a little angry.
This one was a fully completed job, ignore the cabling on the far right.

Sky don't do the work - they contract it out to local TV/satellite installation companies.
The other options they had was to:
A) run it through your entire house resulting in a cable tacked to the skirting boards or
go round the outside of the building which would result in a massive drop in signal to the point that even on a mildly cloudy day it would drop out. 0 -
Sky do most installs themselves.
Kurtis Blue was just pointing out the shoddy work, I agree it is disgraceful.
There is no drip loop, there is no fixing of cable to roof tiles, a complete bodge job.
Cable clips about 6 foot apart etc. etc.0 -
To be fair sky like virgin probably aren't allowed to go on the roof as its against health and safety, but it should have a loop before entry0
-
Once that cable has been scuffed on your guttering by the wind, water will likely enter your cable and as there is no 'drip loop' will likely bu**er your system.
I asked for the cable to be routed around my house (only a couple of metres of extra cable) and my signal is fine.
The two baseball capped 'engineers' who installed my HD box recently also wanted to throw the cable over the roof - that was after they broke my window removing the old cable and I basically told them to **** off and I routed the cable myself.
Kurtis_Blue - I would send your picture to sky and tell them what you think of their handywork just in case something goes wrong at a later date as they will likely blame you.
You might get a free months viewing (or similar) but little compensation for the bodge work that they have done installing your system.0 -

I just cant believe you can be so wrong in every post on this forum, you must be doing it on purpose.
Sky hardly contract any work out any more and are actually actively taking ASA status back from most installers.
There are correct ways in running cable to the other side of a property, the loft being one. If cable is to be laid over the roof it must be secured. ( and not thrown at a juanty angle
) 0 -

Rubbish AVC have just taken over First Line Digital and are at present recruiting satellite installers to cope with Sky installations.0 -
In my neck of the woods, Sky have their own engineers.
Guy did a terrific job installing mine.
Put the dish on a L bracket (tree's block the signal), then tacked the wire underneath the guttering and then down through the wall where the TV aerial goes in.
Clean and simple.:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -

Clean and simple.
Sky may well have some " engineers ", but they employ installers to install basic satellite systems.0 -
Sky told me they're not allowed to run cable through one room into the other, and this is why they swung mine over the roof top.
BS from them or correct?0 -

Due to a large number of insurance claims )both genuine and fraudulent) Sky instruct their own installers not to go into lofts (unless boarded and with lighting), not to drill through interior walls and to drill through outside walls from the inside - both the last two to avoid damage to decoration.0
