Just on a side note...I think your doing really well. You have clearly had your lightbulb moment. It will be a struggle getting back on your feet, but you get there. Well done for all progress so far!!!
Are shopacheck doorstep lenders. I don't really know what to say, except these people will be a different kettle of fish than highstreet banks. They will not play ball and will do everything to make life difficult. They will also charge LOADS in interest/fees etc/ I know its hard, but is there any way you could just pay this one off?0

Its the same as provident the interests already on as they add that at the start its the whole door knocking thing im worried about. She also said that their legal team would refuse whatever offer we made?Ive tried texting my advisor at cab but shes useless and still hasnt replied to the texts i sent her late last week.We had a DMP which we managed well untill oh was put on sick.Im wondering whether to try and go it alone and send letters with my soa to the companies myself ive managed it before so im sure i could do it again its just companies like this that i know will be awkward. Also my husband and i went to the bank and handed back our cheque books and cards which we did off our own backs before we had any letters or calls.(1st letter came today)im so pleased we did this as it said they were going to send someone to collect them and they charge a further £125.Theyve said the account will be frozen in 28 days and passed to debt collection.I know that there will be loads of charges as your charged per day your overdrawn i think? But i feel that this was the right step to take as we feel we have some control. We are so determined and have took onboard all the advice we have been given. We dont want to be paying this into our 50's as were only 28 we intend to work really hard.Hopefully i'll have a job soon and even the children now understand the need to cut back(the older 2).We wont let debt ruin all our lives!sanfrancisco wrote:Just on a side note...I think your doing really well. Not normally. You will be charged first for going od, then normally for each item (normally has a limit though). You will be charged interest though.0

theres not many people ( I include myself here ) that would have the strength to do this off your own bat. ) that would have the strength to do this off your own bat.
Who were you doing the DMP with, what did they do when your hubby went off sick??? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? We were with chiltern then realised were been robbed so wrote off and did it by ourselves fell behind when he was put on sick so went to0 cab i feel were better doing it ourselves again when talking to others.Have rung cccs but they cant do a telephone interview for 3 weeks.I feel this is all to long.I feel better about doing this ourselves again as we arent been charged interest on practically any of them.lynzpower wrote:Can I just take this moment to give you all a big :T for the above statement.

The difficulty with the Shopacheck loan is the fact that it was taken out so recently when you were already having problems.I dont mean to frighten you but this can be seen as fraud. It is unlikely that they will accept any offer & your CAB may well be unable to assist you with this debt.
When is your next appointment at CAB? Has the inc/exp been done? well good luck to you.
I dont know too much about administering own DMPs, but theres plenty of people who do do it.
I guess the downer is that creditors will still contact you, whereas with CCCS etc they would be shoved towards the org for contact & updates, & not hassle you? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? No she said it would take 4/6 weeks just to get balances even though i gave her very accurate balances. The whole shopacheck thing is not a huge worry but the woman was going on ridiculous. We didnt know about the whole council tax arrears then as theyd overpaid us last year (not our fault)they said we were entitled to benefit which i thought was too much and so kept ringing up but they woulnt accept payment.(we are in the process of fighting this as have proof, letters and they tape phonecalls)so theoretically were managing the payments fine to shopacheck. If it got so bad with them and they wouldnt back down i would ask my father but i literally would have to be so desperate and id still have to lie about what it was for.(hes very anti debt)I really dont want to have to do that as its our problem.beanielou wrote:The difficulty with the Shopacheck loan is the fact that it was taken out so recently when you were already having problems.I dont mean to frighten you but this can be seen as fraud. It is unlikely that they will accept any offer & your CAB may well be unable to assist you with this debt.
